Surgent is a four-piece extreme/technical death metal band from Tallinn, Estonia, blending both classic and new school with many of the personal influencers like Gojira, Scarve, Extol, and Devin Townsend. “Any Surgent song is always crushingly heavy, mixed with odd time signatures, while still keeping melodic parts and clear song structure,” says the guitarist Jaan Varts.
Beast Of Prey is a fast polyrhythmic and uncompromising song that was mixed and mastered by Danish producer Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, Mnemic, Aborted).
“We feel that Tue managed to capture the sound suitable for our music in the best kind of way - it’s massive, clear and modern”, says guitarist Jaan Varts.
“Beast Of Prey is the follow-up to our first single “Peak Of Repression” which was released this April. With this song, we want to cement the foundation for the way we want to express ourselves through music and give an idea to audiences as to what can be expected from us in the future.”, Endrik the vocalist adds.
Surgent will perform its debut live show at the Tallinn Music Week 2020 Metal Stage on August 29th, 2020.
