Veterans of German Heavy/Speed Power metal returned after 2 years from the release of their album "The Living Dead" (2018) with a new album. As always, the style of this band, both from the text and instrumental layers, is kept around the history of Scotland and the figure of William Wallace, which in total suits some fans of this band and others a little tired of the repetition of this musical formation. For me, it's okay because I listen to a lot of heavy metal bands, which style from album to album is quite similar to each other, but it doesn't tire me. This is the case with bands such as Accept or Iron Maiden. If I listen to something great and it's good, why change something?
Maybe I'll start with the strongest points of this album in my opinion. These strong moments of this disc are definitely the songs: "All for the Kingdom", which is a great opener of this album, has great riffs and a solo in which inspirations from classical music are woven (Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach) Another great piece is the ballad "Thousand Tears" where we will hear Noora Louhimo from the heavy metal band Battle Beast (in my opinion she sang beautifully here). "Lions Of The Sea" and "Barbarian" songs have catchy riffs and a melody that will be remembered. However, the number one of this album is for me the title track, the same title as the album - "Fields of Blood". A 10-minute epic track with a very melodic and interestingly sung chorus with backing vocals, I haven't heard such a good number from this band for a very long time. The weak points of this album are that there is some repetition in the riffs, which can be somewhat letting. For example, in the track "Gathering Of the Clans", I hear a similar riff we have on this album and It's hiding under track number two - "All For The Kingdom". The upside is that Chris Boltendahl's voice is still at a high level in my opinion (his characteristic hoarseness)
To sum up, the album "Fields Of Blood" is perhaps nothing new in the Diggers discography, (it is probably a classic Heavy Metal album like everyone else in their collection), but it does not mean that it is also bad, on the contrary, the old school of heavy metal playing from the years 80 which suit me very well. It is also good that for all listeners who did not know this band yet and will start when they reach for this particular album, it can be a great album for history lovers (Especially lovers of the history of the dispute, wars between the English and the Scots in the medieval times) We also have a lot of fragments of melodies played on traditional Scottish Bagpipes on the album. Anyone interested in this particular instrument and traditional Scottish folk music will also find something for themselves. I heartily recommend this album.

Weterani Niemieckiego Heavy/Speed Power metalu powrócili po 2 latach od wydania ich album "The Living Dead" z nową płytą. Jak zawsze już stylistyka tego zespołu zarówno od warstwy tekstowej jak i instrumentalnej utrzymana jest w okół historii Szkocji, oraz postaci Williama Wallace'a co w sumie jednym fanom tego zespołu odpowiada, a drugich trochę męczy powtarzalność tej muzycznej formacji. Jak dla mnie jednak jest to w porządku, ponieważ sam słucham wiele zespołów heavy metalowych, których stylistyka z albumu na album jest dość podobna do siebie, a jednak mnie nie męczy. Tak mam np. z zespołami Accept, lub Iron Maiden. Jeśli coś mi się słucha świetnie i jest to dobre, to czasami po co coś zmieniać?
Może zacznę na początku od najmocniejszych według mnie stron tego albumu. Tymi silnymi momentami tego krążka, są na pewno utwory: "All for the Kingdom", który jest znakomitym otwieraczem tego albumu, ma świetne riffy oraz solówkę w którą wplecione są inspiracje i fragmenty z muzyki klasycznej (Dokładnie Toccata i Fuga w stroju D Minor autorstwa Jana Sebastiana Bacha) Kolejny świetny kawałek to ballada "Thousand Tears", gdzie gościnie usłyszmy na wokalu Noorę Louhimo z heavy metalowego zespołu Battle Beast (Według mnie zaśpiewała tutaj naprawdę bardzo pięknie) Kawałki "Lions of the sea", oraz "Barbarian" mają natomiast chwytliwe riffy i melodię które zapadają w pamięć. Numer jeden tej płyty to dla mnie jednak tytułowy numer, a więc utwór – "Fields of Blood". 10 minutowy epicki kawałek, w którym jest bardzo melodyczny i ciekawie zaśpiewany refren wraz z chórkami, już dawno nie słyszałem tak dobrego numeru od tego zespołu. Słabe punkty tego albumu są takie, że jednak w riffach jest pewna powtarzalność, co może nieco przynudzać. Np. w utworze "Gathering Of the Clans", słyszę podobne riffy gitarowe które mamy na tym albumie i kryją się pod utworem numer 2 czyli "All for the Kingdom". Plusem jest też to, że głos Chrisa Boltendahla jest według mnie ciągle na wysokim poziomie (ta jego charakterystyczna chrypka)
Podsumowując, Album "Fields Of Blood" nie jest może niczym nowym w dyskografii Diggerów, jest klasycznym Heavy Metalowym albumem jak każdy w ich kolekcji, ale nie oznacza, że jest też przez to zły, wręcz przeciwnie odzywa się tutaj stara szkoła grania heavy metalu z lat 80 co mi bardzo pasuję. Dodatkowo atutem tego wydawnictwa dla wszystkich słuchaczy, którzy jeszcze nie znali tego zespołu, a zaczną gdy sięgną po ten właśnie album, jest to że może to być świetny album dla miłośników historii (zwłaszcza miłośników historii sporu, wojen pomiędzy Anglikami i Szkotami w okresie średniowiecza) Na albumie mamy także sporo fragmentów melodii zagranych na tradycyjnych Szkockich Dudach. Kto jest zainteresowany właśnie tym instrumentem i tradycyjną szkocką muzyką folkową i ludową, również znajdzie coś dla siebie. Serdecznie Polecam ten album.
