WINTER FOREST - 'Destiny...'
The depressive black metal band Winter Forest, comes from Brazil and was formed in 2006. In 2007 the band put out a full-length album 'Despair' later followed by a long break from any new releases. Their latest full-length album - 'Destiny...' was released on May 11th, 2020. Let's talk about it.
What surprised me after the first time I listened to it, is that the album contains only three tracks ('Hope', 'Distant From Illusion' and 'Senseless Life'). It may seem as if the release is too short... - well, actually those three songs form a 33-minute long album so it didn't come out as short to me.
Each song is made with big attention to even the smallest detail. While listening to each one you can easily tell that the duo wanted to create a story with this album. In my opinion, each song fits perfectly with another one. It's like a 'visualization' (but not really, since it's music, not a video) of a certain picture which the band had in mind.
'Hope' is a track that fits great into the whole album but I would prefer to have 'Distant From Illusion' and 'Senseless Life' divided into at least four different tracks... After listening to the last song I felt immensely bored. I think that it's almost fourteen-minute length scared me a bit since I'm not a huge fan of such long tracks... but on the other hand, besides making me bored, this album has no other negative sides... or maybe actually there might be one more - the three-song album seems to be more like an EP and while I was writing this review, I was calling this release 'an EP' ALL THE TIME... had to change that, obviously, but I think that the band should re-think the type of this album and maybe call it an EP...

Depressive black metalowy zespół Winter Forest, pochodzi z Brazylii i powstał w 2006 roku. W 2007 zespół wydał album full-lenght „Despair”, po czym nastąpiła długa przerwa od jakichkolwiek nowych wydawnictw. Ich najnowszy album o pełnej długości - „Destiny ...” został wydany 11 maja 2020 roku.
Zaskoczyło mnie to, że wydanie zostało nazwane albumem a zawiera tylko trzy utwory („Hope”, „Distant From Illusion” i „Senseless Life”). Może się wydawać, że jest za krótki ... - cóż, te trzy piosenki tworzą 33-minutowy album, więc nie wyszło im to najgorzej.
Każdy utwór jest wykonany z wielką dbałością o najmniejszy szczegół. Słuchając każdego z nich, możesz łatwo stwierdzić, że duet chciał przekazać historię na tym albumie. To jest jak „wizualizacja” (ale nie do końca, ponieważ to muzyka, a nie wideo) określonego obrazu, który zespół miał na myśli. „Hope” - utwór, który świetnie pasuje do całego albumu, ale wolałabym, aby „Distant From Illusion” i „Senseless Life” podzielone były na co najmniej cztery różne utwory ... Po wysłuchaniu ostatniego, poczułam się bardzo znudzona. Myślę, że ten prawie czternastominutowy track trochę mnie przeraził, ponieważ nie przepadam za tak długimi utworami ... ale z drugiej strony, poza tym, że się dość bardzo znudziłam, album nie ma innych negatywnych stron ... choć może tak naprawdę może być jeszcze jeden minus - album z trzema utworami kojarzy mi się bardziej z EP i kiedy pisałam tą recenzję, nazywałam to wydawnictwo „EP” przez cały czas ... Myślę, że zespół powinien przemyśleć rodzaj tego albumu i jednak nazwać go EP ...
