April 14th was an extremely special day for pagan metal fans - Graveland released a single "Possessed by Steel" which will also be released as a bonus track in an official album "Hour of Ragnarok" later in autumn.
As we know, Graveland has been releasing rerecorded albums quite often, much to the disappointment of their fans... but FINALLY we are getting a brand new album containing five new tracks followed by two bonus tracks "Possessed by Steel" and "River of Tears".
After listening to "Possessed by Steel" I can say that the album will definitely be a highlight of autumn 2020. In my opinion, Rob Darken did an amazing job with his vocals, as well as with the music - everything seems to be in the right place. The single itself takes You back to the pagan Poland times and it tells You the story of our ancestors, their battles, and religious views.
Jumping to the video... it's not perfect. It seems as if the film crew wanted to make an act, not a video. For me, the picture seemed a bit cheesy and not realistic enough. It may be an outcome of a poor budget or not giving enough attention to the project.
In the end, although the visual is not excellent, it doesn't damage the meaning and message of the single. I don't want to spoil the production for those of You who haven't given it a shot yet, but I just want to say that it's worth spending six minutes staring at the music video and getting into the feeling of the medieval times.
When Graveland will release their new album in the autumn, I'm certain that many of us will make a listening party during Samhain because what another day could be better than that remarkable and magical one...

Jak wiemy, Graveland dość często wydaje ponownie nagrane albumy, ku rozczarowaniu swoich fanów ... ale W KOŃCU dostaniemy album zawierający pięć nowych utworów, a następnie dwa dodatkowe tracki „Possessed by Steel” i „River of Tears".
Po przesłuchaniu utworu „Possesed by Steel” mogę powiedzieć, że album z pewnością będzie punktem kulminacyjnym jesieni 2020 roku. Moim zdaniem Rob Darken wykonał niesamowitą pracę swoim wokalem, a także muzyką - wszystko wydaje się być we właściwym miejscu. Singiel przeniesie was w czasy pogańskiej Polski oraz opowie historię naszych przodków, ich wojny i poglądy religijne.
Przechodząc do wideo ... nie jest ono idealne. Wygląda na to, że ekipa filmowa chciała zrobić przedstawienie teatralne a nie teledysk. Dla mnie produkcja wydaje się trochę tandetna i mało realistyczna. Może to wynikać ze zbyt niskiego budżetu lub niedostatecznej uwagi poświęconej projektowi.
Ostatecznie, chociaż wideo nie jest doskonałe, nie szkodzi to znaczeniu i przesłaniu singla. Nie chcę zepsuć produkcji tym, którzy jeszcze jej nie przesłuchali, ale chcę tylko powiedzieć, że warto poświęcić sześć minut na wpatrzenie się w teledysk, wsłuchanie w tekst i przeniesienie się do średniowiecza.
Kiedy Graveland wyda swój nowy album jesienią, jestem pewna, że wielu z nas zrobi listening party w Samhain, ponieważ który inny dzień może być lepszy niż ten, niezwykły, magiczny i taki wyjątkowy...
