EERIE AEON - 'Pale Memory of Lost Days'
The EP came out on February 19th and gave us three tracks in the Atmospheric / Post-black metal genre. Judging from Eerie Aeon's social media the band is actually a one-man project, from St. Petersburg, Russia. I actually came across the band on Instagram and decided to give it a shot, since the cover of the EP is quite 'apocalyptic' which is one of my favorite themes. It looks to me as if the cover represents our world after a bomb explosion.
The beginning of the EP is 'Famine Frost Fear Death'. Powerful track, with fast drums and a deep feeling to them. The Guitar riff is extremely catchy but sounds quite sad at some points. I actually like the 'post-war' feeling this track gives me. That's how this song sounds to me at least... It also sounds like the track was filled with emotions to the very top by the creator. It definitely will give You shivers down Your spine. The following track is 'Mourning Requiem'. It is something like a second part of the first song. For me, it continues the story of a man that got trapped in the apocalyptic/war world and sadness is the only thing that surrounds him. I love the fact, that drums and guitars on 'Mourning Requiem' are so well fitted together and make a perfect, compatible whole. 'Cold Ages, Now And Forever' is the track that wins everything for me. It is perfect in every possible category. I am a huge fan of the vocal + guitar solidarity, how they are working so well together, none of them tries to preach the choir. Drums are doing a huge job on this song. Fast blasts, deep feeling, almost destructive like. The track converts into a piano + synth (not entirely sure what is that tbh). This kinda weird sound effect sounds like it was recorded underwater or near water. This shocked me at first, but later I understood the meaning of it. I don't want to spoil it so that You can understand it Yourself.
Overall, this EP turned out great. It provides us with a great amount of atmospheric/ post-black metal feeling, as well as simply well-made tracks from the post-apocalyptic world. To be honest, I listened to this EP around 12 times, and each time it gave me a different feeling, different idea, but surprisingly mostly connected to the destructive impact which humans have on our world... I recommend 'Pale Memory Of Lost Days' for people, that like tracks with a deeper feeling and hidden meaning to them.

EPka ukazała się 19 lutego z trzema utworami z gatunku Atmospheric / Post-black metal. Sądząc z mediów społecznościowych Eerie Aeon, zespół jest właściwie jednoosobowym projektem z Petersburga. Natknęłem się na zespół na Instagramie i postanowiłam dać mu szansę między innymi dlatego, że okładka EP-ki jest dość „apokaliptyczna”, co jest jednym z moich ulubionych motywów. Wydaje mi się, że okładka przedstawia nasz świat po wybuchu bomby (oczywiście autor nie narzuca nam żadnej interpretacji).
Początkiem EP jest „Famine Frost Fear Death”. Mocny utwór, z szybkimi bębnami i głębokim uczuciem. Riff jest bardzo chwytliwy, ale w niektórych momentach brzmi dość smutno. Naprawdę podoba mi się uczucie „powojenne”, które daje mi ten utwór. Tak przynajmniej dla mnie brzmi ten kawałek ... Brzmi również tak, jakby twórca naumyślnie wypełnił utwór emocjami tak, aby z każdą sekundą wylewało się ich coraz więcej. Kolejny utwór to „Mourning Requiem”. To coś w rodzaju drugiej części "Famine Frost Fear Death". Dla mnie kontynuuje historię człowieka uwięzionego w apokaliptycznym / wojennym świecie, a smutek jest jedyną rzeczą, która go otacza. Uwielbiam fakt, że perkusja i gitary w „Mouring Requiem” są tak dobrze do siebie dopasowane i tworzą idealną, kompatybilną całość. „Cold Ages, Now And Forever” to utwór, który wygrywa dla mnie wszystko. Jest idealny w każdej możliwej kategorii. Jestem wielką fanką współpracy wokalnej i gitarowej. Perkusja wykonuje świetną robotę w utworze. Szybkie blasty, głębokie uczucie, prawie destrukcyjne. Ścieżka przekształca się w utwmór instrumentalny - fortepian + syntezator (nie do końca jestem pewna, czy na pewno to syntezator). Ten dziwny efekt dźwiękowy brzmi, jakby został nagrany pod wodą lub w pobliżu niej. Z początku mnie to zszokowało, ale później zrozumiałam jego znaczenie. Nie chcę wam spoilerować rozwiązania, abyście sami mogli do niego dotrzeć.
Ogólnie rzecz biorąc, ta EPka okazała się świetna. Zapewnia idealną nam atmosferę / post-black metalową, a także dobrze wykonane utwory ze świata postapokaliptycznego. Szczerze mówiąc, słuchałem tej EPki około 12 razy i za każdym kolejnym dawała mi inne uczucie, inny pomysł, ale zawsze związane były głównie z niszczycielskim wpływem, jaki ludzie mają na nasz świat ... Polecam „Pale Memory Of Lost Days” ludziom, którzy lubią tracki o głębszym odczuciu i ukrytym znaczeniu.
