NECROSOUND - 'The Nightmare'
Los Angeles based drummer - Carlos Cruz, known from more thrash/speed metal acts, has created a solo black metal/crust project- NecroSound. The EP came out on February 21st and immediately began to collect many positive reviews.
Let's add another one to The Nightmare's collection.
Intro - 'The Nightmare' is an instrumental, kind of horror-like track, straight from a Frankenstein movie. I really like the feeling, which this intro gives me, of being alone in a huge room in a medieval castle, surrounded by candles and hearing the wind blowing through the shattered windows... 'Cold Imagination' - very fast, great blasts, deadly vocals. It's a ridiculously good track with a little bit of punk-like feeling which kind of threw me off in the first place, but then, after I gave the song a few listens, I got used to it and I actually like the sound of it. In my opinion, 'Until Death' has amazing, deep vocals (which 'Cold Imagination' was lacking), great guitar riffs, and slower drum parts. This track is a huge climate influencer. It actually made me feel like I went back in time to the 2nd wave of black metal. GREAT WORK ON THIS ONE, I actually think that this track is my favorite... 'Blood will spill' has very catchy guitar riffs, although, I would like to boost the guitar sound a little and make it louder... Vocals sound not so black metally here for me, more speed-metal-like... 'Possessions' is actually my second favorite track. Great, deep vocals with slower music - that sounds just perfect. This track feels like part two to 'Until Death' since the climate and mood which it brings is pretty similar to that tracks. The extremely catchy guitar solo sounds just perfect with the grim sound of the whole song.
In conclusion, I think that starting a solo project by Carols Cruz was a great idea. He just allowed himself to do what he wants on this EP and it turned out great. I really like how he combined crust with black metal and I hope that we will get more of his music in some time...

Naprawdę podoba mi się uczucie, które wnosi: przebywasz samotnie w wielkim pokoju w średniowiecznym zamku, otaczają Cię tylko świece i słyszysz wiatr wiejący przez rozbite okna ... - idealne uczucie. 'Cold Imagination” - bardzo szybki track, świetne blasty, śmiertelnie dobry wokal. To absurdalnie dobry utwór z odrobiną punkowej atmosfery, co przede wszystkim odrzuciło mnie z początku, ale potem, jak posłuchałam utworu jeszcze kilka razy, to przyzwyczaiłam się do tego eksperymentalnego brzmienia. Moim zdaniem „Until Death” ma niesamowity, głęboki wokal (którego brakowało „Cold Imagination”), świetne gitarowe riffy i wolniejsze partie perkusji. Ten utwór ma ogromny wpływ na klimat. Sprawił, że poczułam się, jakbym cofnęła się w czasie do 2 fali black metalu. Z przekonaniem mogę powiedzieć, że ten utwór jest moim ulubionym ... „Blood will spill” ma bardzo chwytliwe gitarowe riffy, chociaż chciałabym trochę poprawić brzmienie gitary żeby była głośniejsza... Wokale nie brzmią dla mnie bardzo black metalowo, bardziej przypominają speed-metal ... „Possessions” to właściwie mój drugi ulubiony utwór. Świetny, głęboki wokal z wolniejszą muzyką - brzmi idealnie. Ten kawałek wydaje się być drugą częścią „Until Death”, ponieważ klimat i nastrój, który wprowadza, jest bardzo podobny do tamtego utworu. Niezwykle chwytliwe solo gitarowe brzmi idealnie z ponurym brzmieniem całego kawałka.
Podsumowując, myślę, że rozpoczęcie solowego projektu Carolsa było świetnym pomysłem. Pozwolił sobie robić co chce na tej EPce i okazało się, że był to świetny pomysł. Bardzo podoba mi się to, jak połączył crust z black metalem i mam nadzieję, że za jakiś czas dostaniemy więcej jego muzyki ...
