Today, it'll be a throughout analysis of 'WW' full-length album by a killer Norwegian band - Gehenna.

Knowing the band's earlier releases, and how were they received, the 2005 album wasn't necessarily destined to be the best in the discography.

The killer lineup heralds a decent material, which certainly is better than the previous album. 

Sixteen years have passed since the premiere of 'WW', so for sure you all had at least a few opportunities to listen to the album and make up your opinion about it.

I also listened to it several times, and to be honest, my feelings are quite opposed to each other. I really am between liking and listening to certain tracks 24/7, but on the other hand, I feel like the album isn't worth that much attention...

It's not bad, but certain things don't go well together on it.

    The instrumental work here was done very well - the guitar riffs fitted flawlessly with the fiercely performed drums. Their coalition really kicked ass, and was a perfect musical background that held the album on a decent level. 

Analyzing the vocals, I can say that they were very deep, quite death metal-sounding. Their feeling was a bit mournful and gloomy, but it hadn't brought any constant, strong feelings that would grasp me, and allow me to feel the material with my soul. 

As for the compatibility of these musical ingredients, I have to point out (on 'Death To Them All') they sounded even better than perfect together,  they had the typical Norwegian black metal sound, which resonated with pure coldness and misanthropy.

Unfortunately, in certain moments, the vocals were kind of out of place, as if they weren't connected to the music at all.

With this only flaw, the reception of the album wasn't badly damaged. The only thing which was slightly touched by the unfitting vocals was the mood. As I mentioned earlier, it wasn't constant nor present in each track. Despite this inconvenience, you could certainly notice a feeling of dark Norwegian misanthropy, enriched by the cold and lonely mood, which pierced through your soul. 

    After listening to 'WW' for a few times, I could see what they wanted to achieve, and the process of creation behind all this work. The message contained on the album became clear to me, and more understandable in spite of the one small flaw. 

All in all, this 2005 album, for sure isn't Gehenna's top one, since it was released in the time of a collapse of black metal and certainly was influenced by that crisis as well. Nevertheless, it still provided some killer riffs and strong feelings. 

'WW' should be known and appreciated, even for only a few good tracks.

    Nowy post z serii Back To The Past już tu jest !

Dzisiaj będzie to całościowa analiza pełnometrażowego albumu „WW”, zabójczego norweskiego zespołu - Gehenna.

Znając wcześniejsze wydawnictwa zespołu i jak zostały odebrane, to album z 2005 roku niekoniecznie mogł być najlepszym w dyskografii, patrząc szczególnie na ten z 2000 roku.

Zabójczy skład zapowiada przyzwoity materiał, który z pewnością jest lepszy niż poprzedni album.

Od premiery „WW” minęło szesnaście lat, więc na pewno wszyscy mieliście co najmniej kilka okazji, aby posłuchać wydawnictwa i wyrobić sobie o nim opinię.

Wysłuchałam go również kilka razy i szczerze mówiąc, moje uczucia są sobie zupełnie przeciwne. Naprawdę jestem pomiędzy lubieniem i słuchaniem niektórych utworów 24 godziny na dobę, 7 dni w tygodniu, ale z drugiej strony czuję, że album nie jest wart tak dużej uwagi ...

Nie jest aż tak bardzo źle, ale pewne rzeczy nie pasują do siebie.

    Instrumentalna praca została tutaj wykonana bardzo dobrze - gitarowe riffy idealnie pasowały do ​​zaciekle wykonanej perkusji. Ich koalicja naprawdę skopała tyłek i była doskonałym podkładem muzycznym, które utrzymywało album na przyzwoitym poziomie.

Analizując wokale, mogę powiedzieć, że były one bardzo głębokie, brzmiące dość death metalowo. Ich uczucie było trochę żałobne i ponure, ale nie przyniosło żadnych stałych, silnych odczuć, które mogłyby mnie chwycić i pozwolić poczuć materiał głęboko w mojej duszy.

Jeśli chodzi o kompatybilność tych muzycznych składników, to muszę zaznaczyć (na „Death To Them All”) brzmiały razem nawet lepiej niż idealnie, miały typowe norweskie brzmienie black metalowe, które rezonowało z czystym chłodem i mizantropią.

Niestety, w niektórych momentach wokale były trochę nie na miejscu, jakby w ogóle nie były połączone z muzyką.

Z tą jedyną wadą, odbiór albumu nie został poważnie uszkodzony. Jedyną rzeczą, która została lekko poruszona przez niepasujący wokal, był nastrój. Jak wspomniałam wcześniej, nie był on stały ani obecny w każdym utworze. Mimo tej niedogodności z pewnością dało się odczuć mroczną norweską mizantropię, wzbogaconą o zimny i samotny nastrój, który przeszył Twoją duszę.

    Po kilkukrotnym wysłuchaniu „WW” mogłam zobaczyć, co zespół chciał osiągnąć i jaki był proces twórczy. Przesłanie zawarte na albumie stało się dla mnie jasne i bardziej zrozumiałe pomimo tej jednej małej wady.

Podsumowując, ten album z 2005 roku z pewnością nie jest najlepszym albumem Gehenny, ponieważ został wydany w okresie nagłego upadku black metalu i z pewnością był również pod wpływem tego kryzysu. Niemniej jednak wciąż dostarczał zabójczych riffów i silnych uczuć.

„WW” powinno być znane i doceniane nawet tylko za kilka dobrych kawałków.

 SKULL FIST / EVIL INVADERS (09.06.2015) Warszawa, Klub Progresja

  It has been six years since this concert, but the energy and power that was on this gig makes it seem like this metal show took place literally yesterday! Two excellent bands performed on the stage that evening. Supporting great group Evil Invaders (Thrash / Speed metal) from Belgium, and famous Canadian Skull Fist (Heavy / Speed metal) I cordially invite you to my memories of this event - strong metal hit! 

  Six years is a lot of time and some things from this concert surely slipped my mind a bit, but I certainly did not miss the amazing energy of this concert! I remember that the whole gig started somewhere around 8:00 p.m. and all-metal playing took place on the club's small stage - Progresja in Warsaw. (It's very good and it's great that it all happened on a small stage, because I like small concerts - you can be so close to your idols and favorite bands!) Let's get started! In the beginning, the audience was warmed up by the guys from Evil Invaders! Ohh, what energy and power they have (they instilled a huge dose of metal fuck in the audience at the very beginning). Pulses of Pleasure 'or' Fast, Loud 'n' Rude '. After Evil Invaders, the time has come for the main star of the evening - Skull Fist! A beautiful band for heavy metal lovers of the new wave and more! There was a real volcano of energy at their performance! Mainly it was also due to the great, very nice, and mega charismatic guitarist, vocalist, and the main founder of this band - Jackie Slaughter! (Zach Slaughter) but in general, the whole line-up of Skull Fist gave themselves 666 percent energy at this concert! From amazing Canadians we heard such beautiful heavy metal songs as e.g. 'Sign of The Warrior,' No False Metal '' Bad for Good '' You're Gonna Pay, and 'Head Of The Pack!' This piece 'Head of the Pack 'let me pause longer because for me it was the best live performance of this song in Skull Fist history! He stuck on stage with his guest appearance in this piece - Pisston! (Bass player of the Polish band Hybris active in the years 2012 - 2016 and representing the metal genre - (Technical Death / Thrash metal) here at this point, I want to thank him and I bow to him that throughout this concert (thanks to him and his energy) the audience was additionally warmed up, and the whole concert itself had even more power and energy! A beautiful moment was when Pisston played Basia, and Casey Slade (the bass player of Skull Fist who played Skull Fist from 2011 to 2018) took Pisston on a piggyback. Jonny Nesa (Nickname - Johnny Exciter) did the same and took Zach Slaughter on the bran! Back then, there was a great atmosphere at the concert, which reminded me of Motörhead concerts. There were even moments on stage like Zach's engagement, so moments full of tears and emotions

   Summing up the Skull Fist / Evil Invaders concert in Warsaw was a truly unique event with incredible energy. I hope that in the future there will be even more concerts from New Wave Heavy Speed Metal and Thrash Speed Metal in our country. I love the energy and charisma of musicians from these genres of metal music!

    Od tego koncertu, wydarzenia mija już sześć lat, ale energia i moc jaka była na tym gigu sprawia, że wydaję mi się jakby to metalowe show odbyło się dosłownie wczoraj! Na scenie tego wieczoru zagrały dwa znakomite zespoły. Supportująca świetna grupa Evil Invaders (Thrash/Speed metal) z Belgii, oraz znamkomity Kanadyjski Skull Fist (Heavy/Speed metal) Zapraszam serdecznie do moich wspomnień z tego wydarzenia - mocnego metalowego uderzenia! 

   Sześć lat to spory czas i niektóre rzeczy z tego koncertu na pewno mi trochę umknęły z głowy, ale na pewno nie umknęła mi niesamowita energia tego koncertu! Pamiętam, że całość gigu zaczęła się gdzieś około godziny 20:00 i całość metalowego grania odbywała się na małej scenie klubu – Progresja w Warszawie. (Bardzo dobrze i fajnie, że to wszystko działo się na małej scenie, ponieważ bardzo lubię kameralne koncerty – można być tak blisko swoich idoli i ulubionych zespołów!) Zaczynamy! Na scenie na początku publikę rozgrzali chłopaki z Evil Invaders! Ohh cóż oni mają za energię i moc (zaszczepili w publiczności potężną dawkę metalowego wpierdolu już na samym początku) Usłyszeliśmy od nich na żywo takie porządne kawałki Speed Thrash metalu jak np. genialne – ‘Victim of Sacrifice’ ‘Stairway to Insanity’ ‘Pulses of Pleasure’ czy ‘Fast, Loud ‘n’ Rude’. Po Evil Invaders przyszedł czas na główną gwiazdę wieczoru czyli – Skull Fist! Piękny zespół dla miłośników Heavy metalowej nowej falii i nie tylko! Na ich występie był prawdziwy wulkan energii! Głównie też to było za sprawą świetnego, przesympatycznego i mega charyzmatycznego gitarzysty, wokalisty i głównego założyciela tego zespołu czyli – Jackiego Slaughtera! (Zach Slaughter) no ale generalnie cały skład Skull Fist dał siebie na tym koncercie 666 procent energii! Od niesamowitych Kanadyjczyków usłyszeliśmy tak piękne utwory heavy metalowe jak np. ‘Sign of The Warrior, ‘No False Metal’ ‘Bad for Good’ ‘You’re Gonna Pay i ‘Head Of The Pack!’ Przy tym kawałku ‘Head of the Pack’ pozwolę się dłużej zatrzymać, ponieważ było to jak dla mnie najlepsze wykonanie tego kawałka na żywo w historii Skull Fist! Na scenie wbił jeszcze ze swoim gościnnym udziałem w tym kawałku – Pisston! (Basista polskiego zespołu Hybris aktywnego w latach 2012 – 2016 i reprezentujący gatunek metalu – (Techniczny Death/Thrash metal) tutaj w tym miejscu chce mu podziękować i chylę przed nim czoła, że przez cały ten koncert (dzięki niemu i jego energii) publiczność była dodatkowo mocno rozgrzana, a sam cały koncert miał jeszcze większą moc i energię! Pięknym momentem było to kiedy Pisston grał na Basi, a Casey Slade (czyli basista Skull Fist grający w Skull Fist od 2011 do 2018 roku) wziął Pisstona na barana. To samo zrobił Jonny Nesa (Pseudonim – Johnny Exciter)  wziął Zacha Slaughtera na barana! Wtedy był wspaniały klimat na koncercie kojarzący mi się trochę z klimatami koncertów Motörhead. Na scenie były nawet takie momenty jak zaręczyny Zacha, a więc momenty pełne łez i wzruszeń

   Podsumowując koncert Skull Fist / Evil Invaders w Warszawie był naprawdę wyjątkowym wydarzeniem z niesamowitą energią. Mam nadzieje, że w przyszłości będzie jeszcze więcej koncertów z Nowej Fali Heavy Speed Metalu i Thrash Speed metalu w naszym kraju. Uwielbiam energię i charyzmę jaką mają muzycy z tych gatunków muzyki metalowej!

NOEN HATER OSS - 'Bastarder'

    Norwegian black metal has moved a bit back, to the underground, in recent years. The bands have been creating a killer material and releasing it only for people that will truly appreciate their craftsmanship and dedication to the genre. One of those bands is NOEN HATER OSS - a five-year-old band from cold Stavanger.

With three full-length releases on their account, we got a very inspirational material - 'Bastarder' (2019), which is mostly focused on the old-school black metal craft in a new wave style of music.

    As almost always, I'll start with a throughout analysis of the musical side of the album. 

'Bastarder' has a very strong coalition of guitar riffs, which thankfully, don't stand out too much, they're a rather pleasant addition to the musical scheme.

The vocals were flawlessly paired with the riffs, what's more, they worked as a strong background for the main character on 'Bastareder' - the drums.  The killer skills were exhibited greatly, and they certainly stole the spotlight. With them being fast and brutal, we could feel the northern breeze on our necks. On the other hand, they were balanced by the magical-sounding usage of cymbals. 

All those characteristics really work great together and form a strong and meaningful experience of varied emotions and musical visions.

That experience provided me a very deep and cold feeling of northern loneliness, followed by silent cries of the frozen winds.

    All in all, 'Bastarder' is a release, which will certainly provide you a killer listening time, filled with thousands of feelings, rich musical-visions, and a great set of riffs and black metal skills.

Give the band a shot, you've got plenty of their material to choose from, so I guarantee you, that you'll never feel bored and will have plenty of stuff to listen to.

    Norweski black metal w ostatnich latach cofnął się nieco do podziemia. Zespoły tworzą teraz zabójczy materiał i wypuszczają go tylko dla ludzi, którzy naprawdę docenią ich kunszt i oddanie gatunkowi. Jednym z takich zespołów jest NOEN HATER OSS - pięcioletnie duo z zimnego norweskiego Stavanger.

Mając na swoim koncie trzy pełnometrażowe wydawnictwa, otrzymaliśmy w tym bardzo inspirujący materiał - „Bastarder” (2019), który w większości skupia się na uhonorowaniu oldschoolowego black metalowego rzemiosła w stylu muzycznym nowej fali.

    Jak zawsze, zacznę od szczegółowej analizy strony muzycznej albumu.

„Bastarder” ma bardzo silną koalicję gitarowych riffów, które na szczęście nie wyróżniają się zbytnio, są raczej przyjemnym dodatkiem do muzycznego schematu, który jest dość typowy dla black metalu.

Wokale były bezbłędnie sparowane z riffami, co więcej, stanowiły mocne tło dla głównego bohatera „Bastaredera” - bębny. Zabójcze umiejętności perkusisty były bardzo dobrze eksponowane i skradły światło reflektorów. Cały performance chrakteryzował się szybkością i brutalnością, dzięki czemu mogliśmy poczuć północny mroźny wiatr na naszych szyjach. Z drugiej strony, surowe bębny równoważyło eleganckie i magicznie brzmiące użycie talerzy, idealnie pasujących do mroźnego feelingu.

Wszystkie te cechy naprawdę świetnie ze sobą współgrają i tworzą silne doświadczenie przepełnione różnorodnymi emocjami i muzycznymi wizjami.

Wielokrotne przesłuchanie 'Bastarer' dostarczyło mi bardzo głębokiego i zimnego uczucia północnej samotności, po którym stopniowo dało się usłyszeć ciche szepty mroźnego wiatru.

    Podsumowując, „Bastarder” to wydawnictwo, które z pewnością zapewni Wam miły czas słuchania, a wypełniony on będzie tysiącami uczuć, bogatymi wizjami muzycznymi oraz wspaniałym zestawem riffów i umiejętności black metalowych.

Przesłuchajcie ten zespół, w końcu macie mnóstwo ich materiału do wyboru, więc gwarantuję Wam, że nigdy nie będziecie się nudzić.

 IRON MAIDEN – 'The Number Of The Beast' (1982) Back To The Past series

  In today's episode of the 'Back To The Past' series, the Heavy Metal album, which I think absolutely does not need to be introduced to anyone (especially to Heavy Metal lovers). metal music. This disc needs no introduction, but you can write a lot about it! I will do so now! I cordially invite you to my memories of the 3rd studio album Iron Maiden and at the same time the first with the new vocalist Maiden, i.e. with Bruce Dickinson on vocals. It is also worth adding that a few days ago, because literally 7 days, i.e. on March 22, the album celebrated its 39th birthday!

  In the beginning, it is worth mentioning that the album 'The Number Of The Beast' was a big surprise for Maiden fans because Maiden fans from the 1st and 2nd albums of Iron Maiden had to get used to the new vocalist - Bruce Dickinson. The first albums of Maiden or Iron Maiden - 'Iron Maiden' (1980) and Iron Maiden - 'Killers' (1981) were albums of the NWOBHM genre mixed with Punk (especially by the voice of the vocalist Paul Di'Anno). Both albums are great and for me, privately, in my opinion - every Maiden's album, no matter with what singer is great. Paul Di'Anno is a perfect match for the first two Maiden albums (with classic NWOBHM sound), Bruce is a perfect match for albums where Maiden presented classical melodic Heavy metal mixed with power metal by Bruce's vocals. The timbre of Blaze Bayley's voice, on the other hand, perfectly matches the Irons' albums - 'The X Factor' from 1995 and 'VirtualI' from 1998. Here Blaze's Voice, clearly deep, bassy and strong, just perfectly matched the climate of both Maiden's discs, and thus the gloomy and depressing atmosphere (I don't remember exactly, but Steve Harris wrote his songs back then during the impulse of his strong private emotions, which probably resulted from divorce from his wife, or from the death of his father - Here, unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly) On the album 'The Number Of The Beast' a new Maiden singer - Bruce! he found himself brilliantly. Thanks to his energy and high vocals, the band on this album sound like great energy. This album, in my opinion, had a significant impact on the development of Power metal, too, due to the voice of Bruce Dickinson. Let's start! - The first number that welcomes us on this album is 'Invaders', in my opinion, a great opener with guitar melodies that I associate with Sci-Fi and Fantasy climates. The second track is 'Children Of The Damned', a wonderful climatic track that starts out as a ballad at the beginning and then turns into a real heavy power metal track at the end. Here we have another show of Bruce Dickinson's great vocal skills and a great guitar solo played with the tapping technique by the great Maiden guitarist - Adrian Smith (you feel a lot of emotion in this solo!) The third number is also one of my numbers on this musical piece - 'The Prisoner' at the beginning, in the intro of this issue, we are greeted by the narrator with words from the series 'The Prisoner' (1967)

  Steve Harris (the main founder of Iron Maiden and the band's bassist) was a fan of the series and hence his inspiration to write this song. In this track, we have excellent, great guitar riffs, wonderful solos, and guitars in harmony characteristic of Iron Maiden. This is what I love this band for so much! The next 4th track of this album is '22 Acacia Avenue 'a song with amazing energy, great guitar riffs, and solos. The fifth composition is the title track 'The Number Of The Beast' by Steve Harris and, interestingly, this piece was probably based on a dream that appeared to Harris one night. Additionally (as I know from the Iron Maiden biography) Bruce Dickinson approached the scream recording 1000 times xD reportedly until he started throwing chairs in the studio hehe. The track itself is classic great heavy metal with a classic with a chorus that is remembered very quickly. The sixth track, 'Run To The Hills', is one of the most commercial tracks in Iron Maiden's history. Here, mainly in the front, the galloping bass from Harris is shown. 'Gangland 'is the seventh composition on Number. It is probably the weakest composition on this album, but it is also not the worst number. It has some really cool and interesting moments. It is actually a filler for this album. The eighth track is' Total Eclipse ', a very cool and mega-climatic number, guitars and their melody remind me of some witches' coven or something like that. We come to the end of this great album, but at the end, the Maiden left us a real Heavy Metal dessert! that is the song 'Hallowed be Thy name', almost 8 minutes long epic piece of Irons. It one of their first mega epics in their career. Starting from the vocals, the lyrics, and all the instrumental layers, everything here is brilliant and perfect. We have here an atmospheric dark intro, Bruce's voice full of emotions, and at the end of the composition a wonderful solo race of all guitarists in turn. Of course, everything in Maiden's beautiful harmony. I love Murray and Smith's guitar collaboration on this album! It is also worth mentioning that the whole of this album sounds so beautifully also thanks to the merit of the brilliant (unfortunately Clive Burr, who died in 2013 and died of multiple sclerosis in 2013), Clive Burr was the drummer of the Maidens from their debut album to 'The Number Of The Beast'. ', which for him is his last album recorded with the Maidens. It is on this album that we can hear Clive's great craftsmanship and what he did on drums. Especially in 'The Prisoner' after the narrator's intro, his incoming drums are brilliant. Clive had a really great sense of rhythm and an overall high level of musical feeling. I think that he had even bigger than the current drummer Maiden, which is reliable and always smiling, who likes to joke - Nicko McBrain, who joined the Maidens for the first time on the fourth Maiden studio album released after 'The Number Of The Beast' and of course we are talking about the album ' Piece Of Mind '(1983)! But of course, I love him too and respect him for his percussion skills because they are also great. Anyway, I love and respect all the members of Iron Maiden the same, because they are one great family for me! And from them, my wonderful adventure with metal music began, which continues to this day and I already know that it will last until the grave and even longer! 

To sum up, it's been 39 years since the release of this great and flagship heavy metal album, 'The Number Of The Beast', and despite the passage of time, the album is not getting old at all! It is still fresh and full of energy and is a pleasure to listen to. This is an album that for me had a great influence on the development of power metal and the development of future metal bands in general, including those nowadays new heavy metal bands. An absolute classic that it's a shame not to know (especially if you are a heavy metal lover!) I give this album 10 out of 10 of course!

 W dzisiejszym odcinku z serii ‘Back To The Past’ album Heavy metalowy, który myślę, że absolutnie nie trzeba nikomu przedstawiać (zwłaszcza miłośnikom Heavy metalowego grania) To prawdziwa perełka dla tego gatunku muzyki i która to płyta miała dość duży wpływ również na inne gatunki muzyki metalowej. Nie trzeba tego krążka przedstawiać, ale można o nim sporo napisać! Tak też teraz uczynię! Zapraszam serdecznie na moje wspomnienie 3 studyjnego albumu Iron Maiden, a jednocześnie pierwszego z nowym wokalistą Maiden czyli z Brucem Dickinsonem na wokalu. Warto także dopisać, że kilka dni temu bo dosłownie 7 dni temu czyli 22 marca płyta obchodziła swoje 39 urodziny! 

  Na wstępnie warto napisać, że płyta ‘The Number Of The Beast’ była sporym zaskoczeniem dla fanów Maiden, ponieważ fani Maiden z 1 i 2 płyty ‘Żelaznej Dziewicy’ musieli przyzwyczaić się do nowego wokalisty – Bruca Dickisnona. Pierwsze płyty Maiden czyli Iron Maiden - ‘Iron Maiden’ (1980) i Iron Maiden – ‘Killers’ (1981) były to płyty z gatunku NWOBHM trochę wymieszanego z Punkiem (zwłaszcza przez barwę głosu wokalisty Paula Di’Anno) Obie płyty są świetne i jak dla mnie prywatnie według mojej opinii – każda płyta Maiden nie ważne z jakim wokalistą jest świetna. Paul Di’Anno idealnie pasuję do pierwszych dwóch płyt Maidenów (z klasycznym brzmieniem NWOBHM), Bruce idealnie pasuję do płyt gdzie Maiden prezentowało klasyczny melodyczny Heavy metal wymieszany trochę właśnie przez wokal Bruca z power metalem. Barwa głosu Blaze’a Bayley’a natomiast idealnie pasuję do albumów Ironów – ‘The X Factor’ z 1995 roku i ‘Virutal XI’ z 1998 roku. Tutaj Głos Blaze’a wyraźnie głęboki, basowy i mocny po prostu idealnie przypasował do klimatu obu krążków Maiden, a więc do ponurej i przygnębiającej atmosfery (nie pamiętam dokładnie ale Steve Harris pisał wtedy swoje utwory podczas impulsu swoich silnych prywatnych emocji, które wynikały chyba z rozwodu z jego żoną, albo ze śmierci jego Ojca – Tutaj niestety nie jestem pewien dokładnie) Na płycie ‘The Number Of The Beast’ nowy wokalista Maiden – Bruce! genialnie się odnalazł. Dzięki jego energii i wysokiemu wokalu zespół na tym albumie gra i brzmi jak z ogromną energią. Ta płyta według mnie miała wyraźny wpływ na rozwój właśnie też Power metalu, ze względu na ten głos Bruca Dickinsona. Zaczynamy!- Pierwszy numer, który wita nas na tym krążku to ‘Invaders’ według mnie świetny otwieracz z melodiami gitarowymi, które kojarzą mi się z klimatami Sci-Fi i Fantasy. Drugi numer to ‘Children Of The Damned’ wspaniały klimatyczny kawałek, który na początku zaczyna się jak ballada, a później pod koniec przeradza się w istny heavy power metalowy kawałek. Mamy tutaj kolejny popis wielkich umiejętności wokalnych Bruca Dickinsona i wspaniałą solówkę gitarową zagraną techniką tappingu przez wspaniałego gitarzystę Maiden – Adriana Smitha (naprawdę w tej solówce czuć mnóstwo emocji!) Trzeci numer to również jeden z moich ulubionych numerów na tym dziele muzycznym –‘The Prisoner’ na początku w intrze tego numeru wita nas narrator słowami z serialu ‘The Prisoner’ (1967)

  Steve Harris (główny założyciel Iron Maiden i basista zespołu) był fanem tego serialu i stąd jego inspiracja właśnie do napisania tego utworu. W tym kawałku mamy doskonałe, znakomite gitarowe riffy, cudowne solówki no i gitary w harmonii charakterystycznej właśnie dla Iron Maiden. To jest właśnie coś za co tak bardzo kocham ten zespół! Kolejny 4 kawałek tej płyty to ’22 Acacia Avenue’utwór z niesamowitą energią, kolejnymi świetnymi gitarowymi riffami i solówkami. Piąta kompozycja to tytułowy ‘The Number Of The Beast’ Utwór którego autorem jest Steve Harris i co ciekawe powstał ten kawałek prawdopodobnie na podstawie snu jaki objawił się pewnej nocy właśnie Harrisowi. Dodatkowo jeszcze (co wiem z biografii Iron Maiden) Bruce Dickinson podchodził do nagrania krzyku w tym utworze aż 1000 razy xD podobno aż zaczął rzucać krzesłami w studiu hehe. Sam w sobie kawałek jest klasycznym świetnym heavy metalowym klasykiem z refrenem, który strasznie szybko zapada w pamięć. Szósta kompozycja to ‘Run To The Hills’ jeden z najbardziej komercyjnych utworów w historii twórczości Iron Maiden. Tutaj pokazuję się głównie na przodzie świetnie galopujący bas Harrisa. ‘Gangland’ to z kolei siódma kompozycja na Numberze. Jest to w sumie chyba najsłabsza kompozycja na tym krążku, ale też nie jest to najgorszy numer. Ma kilka naprawdę fajnych i ciekawych momentów. Jest to taki w sumie zapełniacz tej płyty. Ósmy kawałek to ‘Total Eclipse’ bardzo fajny i mega klimatyczny numer, gitarkii ich melodia kojarzy mi się jakby był jakiś sabat czarownic czy coś w tym rodzaju. Przechodzimy do końca tej wspaniałej płyty, ale na sam koniec Maideni zostawili nam prawdziwy Heavy metalowy deser! czyli utwór ‘Hallowed be Thy name’ prawie 8 minutowy epicki kawałek Ironów. Jeden z ich pierwszych mega eposów w karierze zespołu. Począwszy od wokalu, warstwy tekstowej jak i wszystkich instrumentów wszystko tutaj jest genialne i perfekcyjne. Mamy tutaj klimatyczne mroczne intro, głos Bruca pełny emocji i na koniec kompozycji wspaniała gonitwa solówkowa wszystkich gitarzystów po kolei. Oczywiście wszystko w Maidenowej pięknej harmonii. Kocham współprace gitarową Murray’a i Smitha na tym albumie! Warto także wspomnieć, że całość tego albumu tak pięknie wybrzmiewa także dzięki zasłudze genialnego (niestety już nie żyjącego i zmarłego na stwardnienie rozsiane w 2013 roku Clive’a Burra) Clive Burr był perkusistą Maidenów od ich debiutanckiej płyty do właśnie ‘The Number Of The Beast’, która jest dla niego jego ostatnim krążkiem nagranym razem z Maidenami. Właśnie na tej płycie możemy posłuchać wielkiego kunsztu Clive’a i tego co wyczyniał na perkusji. Szczególnie w utworze ‘The Prisoner’ po intrze narratora jego wchodząca perkusja jest genialna. Clive miał naprawdę mega wyczucie rytmu i ogólnie czucie muzyczne na wysokim poziomie. Myślę, że miał nawet większe niż obecny perkusista Maiden czyli niezawodny i zawsze uśmiechnięty, lubiący żartować sobie – Nicko McBrain, który dołączył do Maidenów po raz pierwszy na czwartej studyjnej płycie Maidenów wydanej po ‘The Number Of The Beast’ a mowa oczywiście o płycie ‘Piece Of Mind’ (1983) ! Ale jego też oczywiście uwielbiam i szanuję za umiejętności perkusyjne, bo również są świetne. Zresztą ja i tak wszystkich członków Iron Maiden kocham i szanuję tak samo, bo są dla mnie jedna wielką wspaniałą rodziną! I od nich zaczęła się ogólnie moja wspaniała przygoda z muzyką metalową, która trwa do dziś i wiem już, że będzie trwała aż do grobowej deski i dłużej nawet! 

   Podsumowując, mija już 39 lat od wydania tej wspaniałej i sztandarowej płyty dla heavy metalu jakim jest płyta ‘The Number Of The Beast’ a mimo upływu czasu płyta w ogóle się nie starzeję! Wciąż jest świeża i pełna energii i słucha się ją z ogromną przyjemnością. To płyta, która miała jak dla mnie wielki  wpływ na rozwój power metalu i na rozwój ogólnie przyszłych kapel metalowych, również tych teraz obecnych w dzisiejszych czasach nowych zespołów Heavy metalowych. Absolutny klasyk, którego aż wstyd nie znać (zwłaszcza jeśli jest się miłośnikiem heavy metalu!) daję temu albumowi oczywiście 10 na 10!

 HEXHORN – 'Before The End' LP

   Today, in another review of the album under the auspices of Mara Productions, I will deal with a band from our home country. HexHorn is a band from Katowice, which represents metal from the genre of Thrash / Death metal. In their lyrics, musicians usually sing about death and war. I cordially invite everyone to my review of their album called 'Before The End'

   What at the very beginning, after hearing this release for the first time, is that the whole material on this album is extremely dynamic. The sound and the whole album (mix and mastering) are on a fairly high level and it is really well done. Thanks to this, the album has a lot of energy that does not disappear at all but lasts from the beginning to the end of this material. We also have a great workshop of musicians here. Especially, in my opinion, this is felt and heard in the skills of the drummer. They are excellent with him and at a high level of playing blasts and mastering the double footer. The guitarists also look very good. In each track, we have quite interesting riffs (some of them are even memorable and the hair is waved to them very nicely). Often the riffs reminded me a bit of the last 3 albums from the Death Angel band. Especially in the title track, 'Before The End', we have really great and delicious Thrash / Death metal riffs (privately, it's also my favorite track from the entire HexHorn album). The vocals on this album are of course Growl and in the harsh style and I don't know why, but the voice and singing style of the vocalist of this band remind me a bit of the vocal of Nergal from Behemoth. The only downside to this album, in my opinion, is that there is no turning point and some permanent strongest moment, a turn of action. Sometimes I get the feeling that the songs are quite similar to each other and the album only starts and ends at some point. 

  To sum up, HexHorn presents Thrash / Death metal on a very high level in their album 'Before The End'. I am glad that in our country there are more and more such bands that play metal at a really high level. May there be only more and more such bands! I recommend this album to all fans of good death metal combined with Thrash metal, especially in the atmosphere of a band such as Death Angel. In HexHorn, in my opinion, we will find just such similar playing styles.

  Dzisiaj w kolejnej recenzji płyty spod szyldu Mary Productions zajmę się zespołem z naszego rodzimego kraju. HexHorn to zespół z Katowic, który reprezentuję metal z gatunku Thrash / Death metalu. W swoich tekstach muzycy zazwyczaj śpiewają o śmierci i wojnie. Serdecznie zapraszam wszystkich do mojej recenzji ich krążka o nazwie 'Before The End'

  Co na samym początku po pierwszym przesłuchaniu tego wydawnictwa rzuca się na pierwszy plan to to, że całość materiału zawartego na tym albumie jest niezwykle dynamiczna. Brzmienie jak i całość krążka (mix oraz mastering) jest na dość wysokim poziomie i naprawdę jest dobrze zrobiona. Dzięki temu też właśnie płyta ma dużą energię, która w ogóle nie zanika, tylko trwa od początku do końca tego materiału. Mamy tutaj także wspaniały warsztat muzyków. Zwłaszcza najbardziej według mnie czuć i słychać to w umiejętnościach perkusisty. Są u niego znakomite i na dużym poziomie umiejętności grania blastów i opanowania podwójnej stopki. Gitarzyści prezentują się też bardzo dobrze. W każdym kawałku mamy dość ciekawe riffy (niektóre z nich nawet zapadają w pamięć i bardzo przyjemnie macha się do nich włosami) Często w sumie riffy skojarzyły mi się trochę z 3 ostatnimi płytami od zespołu Death Angel. Zwłaszcza w tytułowym kawałku czyli 'Before The End' mamy naprawdę wspaniałe i wyśmienite Thrash/Death metalowe riffy (prywatnie jest to też właśnie mój ulubiony kawałek z całej tej płyty zespołu HexHorn). Wokal na tym albumie oczywiście jest w stylu growlu i harshu i nie wiem czemu, ale głos i styl śpiewania wokalisty tego zespołu trochę kojarzy mi się z wokalem Nergala z Behemotha. Jedyny w sumie jakiś minus tego krążka według mnie jest taki, że brak tutaj pewnego punku zwrotnego i jakiegoś stałego najmocniejszego momentu, zwrotu akcji. Czasem mam wrażenie, że utwory są dość podobne do siebie, a płyta tylko zaczyna się i w pewnym momencie kończy się. 

  Podsumowując, HexHorn w swojej płycie 'Before The End' prezentuję Thrash / Death metal na bardzo wysokim poziomie. Cieszy mnie, że w naszym kraju jest coraz więcej takich zespołów, które grają metal na naprawdę wysokim szczeblu. Oby takich zespołów było tylko więcej i więcej! Te płytę polecam wszystkim fanom dobrego death metalowego grania połączonego z Thrash metalem, zwłaszcza w klimatach takiego zespołu jak Death Angel. W HexHorn według mnie znajdziemy właśnie takie podobne klimaty grania.

 THROÄT CÜTTER - Interview with Dave Devastator (Guitar, Bass) and Nikki Speed (Vocal, drum programming) - Black / Speed Metal from Poland

   A few days ago I had the pleasure of interviewing a Polish band - Throät Cütter, representing metal music from the Black / Speed metal genre. I interviewed their guitarist and bassist, Dave Devastator, and his bandmate Nikki Speed, who is responsible for vocals and drums at Throät Cütter. The musicians told me about a few curiosities related to the creation of their musical project, introduced me to their greatest musical inspiration, and told me about their future band plans! The musicians are generally fresh on the Polish metal scene. They released their first EP called 'Speed Demön from Hell' on February 12, 2021, but after listening to their material for the first time, you can feel that the guys have great potential and just a heart for old-school playing! If you are a fan of such bands as Sodom, Cranium, Sabbat, Sarcófago, you will surely like their music! Check out my interview with those Speed Demön metallers from hell! 

   Sentinel: Where did the band name Throät Cütter come from? Is there a deeper story behind its creation, or did you come across it completely by accident? 

Devastator: The name did not come by accident, we are inspired by the fast-paced old school shit, the name itself comes from tracks by Razor and Bulldozer.

Nikki: Well, Dave said it all 

S: Do you get along musically as a whole band? I mean, is your entire crew listening to the same music, or are there any significant differences in your musical tastes, and what are your most inspirations for your music. I mean, do you get ideas for your songs just from life experiences, maybe from some movies, books, etc? oh, and can you briefly describe what bands are important to the individual members of your band and inspire you to create your own music. I personally admit that while listening to your EP, bands such as early Sodom, Razor, Cranium, and Sarcófago immediately came to mind.

D: Well, in fact, there are many of us! We listen to different music and there are bands that only one side listens to, but definitely more bands connect us, we draw inspiration, of course, from experiences and read books, among others pizzeria flyers, personal ads, or beer and water labels. As for experiences, it is known that we rape nuns, spoil graves and say a lot of bad words

I listen to bands from a lot of many genres, but a few that inspire me in TC: Razor, Cranium, Sarcofago, Sabbat, Sodom, Exodus (BONDED BY BLOOD !!!), Exciter, Agent Steel. You also practically hit with associations.

N: All in all, it's best to say that we have a similar taste in music, so we have a common vision for the band and what we want to do next - to drink and murder your eardrums with old-school speed metal! 

S: What are your plans for the near future? I mean, after your first EP, then you will record an EP again, or are you slowly getting ready to record an LP album?

D: Fuck knows what will shoot us with these stupid heads, but it will definitely not be a reheated demo like the previous release.

N: What the next recordings will depend on the amount of alcohol consumed by us, so it's hard to say when we will release something and in what format.

S: If, however, there was such an opportunity to organize a concert soon, or you could play in front of a Polish metal band, what would it be like? Here I mean more, what metal band from our native land you respect very much and it also influenced your musical taste and style of playing. I'm guessing probably band KAT hehe.

D: As for KAT, it is rather unlikely, considering the condition of KAT with Roman and the blood sausage that Luczyk makes (with all due respect to the work of KAT from the 1980s and 1990s) From Polish bands, I would probably feel best among Pandemic, Gallower, or Necromastery. There are many great bands in our country, but if I have to mention a few are just these.

N: Luczyk "Kat" sucked dick on his last album, so they rather drop off for a gig with us.

S: When you create your songs, you are very inspired by some metal bands, you look for some melodies from their songs to come up with something your own, or is it usually that you meet during rehearsals and you just come up with your songs very naturally, I mean just you play, you start to improvise and strive to create your own style and sound. 

D: I just grab a guitar and fuck it. So much. 

N: All in all, Dave makes such good riffs, you don't need to be inspired by anything! Moreover, the assumption is not to sound like a reheated cutlet after 40 years but to bring something of your own to this music.

S: How did your musical adventure start? I mean, since when have you been playing together, how did you meet as a team, and for about which year have you been playing together? And one more question out of curiosity. Who of you came up with such a band name?

D: We have been playing together since the end of 2019, from New Year's Eve, because it was then that we recorded the first track, I brought the name to Nikki, he said that name is so cool! and we have to play under this banner. 

N: Dude, why didn't you see our metallum, you have all the dates there, and as for the humble thing, it was on the day of recording the number 'Speed Metal From Hell', we were supposed to spend Sylvester at one party, but it just so happened that before New Year's Eve we had so much hard time looking at alcohol so instead of pounding the water, we sat down to record at a few breweries.

S: What is the history of the cover for your first EP and is there any secret behind it, is the cover supposed to convey something important? or rather, there is no point in looking for something deeper in it. 

D: The secret is, fuck modern metal and bring back the 80s Speed Metal! 

N: I am the graves of the 80s, I am the risen dead! Destroy their modern metal and bang your fucking head UGH! 

S: What are your biggest influences when it comes to vocal in the band? and which guitarists inspire you the most (I mean, of course, guitarists, bassists), and which drummer inspires your drummer the most?

D: When it comes to guitar and bass it depends on what I play, but in the case of the TC I am probably most inspired by Dave Carlo. Our drummer is God himself. Because the fuck doesn't exist.

N: Jesus Christ-son of a whore.

S: Thank you very much for the interview and for agreeing that I was able to conduct it with you. I wish you and the rest of the band every success in the metal scene. I think it is extremely important to support young, talented Polish metal bands. Is there anything you want to say/convey at the end to your fans and listeners? Maybe you want to reveal a secret about the band's future plans or reveal some secrets. KVLT!

Muzycy opowiedzieli mi o kilku ciekawostkach związanych z powstaniem ich muzycznego projektu, przybliżyli mi swoje największe inspirację muzyczne, oraz opowiedzieli o swoich przyszłych planach zespołowych! Muzycy są ogólnie świeżynką na polskiej scenie metalowej. Wydali swoją pierwszę EP-kę o nazwie ‘Speed Demön from Hell’ 12 lutego 2021 roku, ale już po pierwszym przesłuchaniu ich materiału można odczuć, że chłopaki mają ogromny potencjał i po prostu serce do old-schoolowego grania! Jeśli jesteście maniakami takich zespołów jak Sodom, Cranium, Sabbat, Sarcófago to ich muzyka na pewno wam się spodoba! Zapraszam do mojego wywiadu przeprowadzonego z tymi Speed Demönami metalowcami z piekła!! 

  Sentinel: Skąd właśnie taka nazwa zespołu Throät Cütter? Czy kryję się za jej powstaniem jakaś szersza głębsza historia, czy wpadliście na nią zupełnie przypadkowo?

Devastator: Nazwa nie wzięła się przypadkowo, inspirujemy się oldschoolowym wpierdolem w szybkim tempie, sama nazwa pochodzi od tracków zespołu Razor i Bulldozer.

Nikki: No w sumie to Dave powiedział wszystko.

S: Czy dogadujecie się muzycznie jako cały zespół. Mam na myśli to czy wasza cała ekipa słucha tej samej muzyki, czy występują jednak jakieś znaczne różnice waszych gustów muzycznych, no i z czego czerpiecie do swojej muzyki najbardziej inspiracje. Mam na myśli, czy czerpiecie pomysły na wasze utwory po prostu z doświadczeń życiowych, może z jakiś filmów, książek itp? aha i czy możecie krótko opowiedzieć jakie zespoły są ważne dla poszczególnych członków waszej kapeli i inspirują was do tworzenia własnej muzyki. Ja osobiście przyznam, że podczas odsłuchu waszej EP-ki od razu przyszły mi do głowy takie zespoły jak: wczesny Sodom, Razor, Cranium i Sarcófago.

D: No faktycznie jest nas w chuj w bandzie! Słuchamy różnej muzyki i są zespoły których słucha tylko jedna strona ale zdecydowanie więcej zespołów nas łączy, inspiracje czerpiemy oczywiście z przeżyć i przeczytaliśmy w chuj książek m.in. ulotki pizzerii, ogłoszenia towarzyskie czy etykiety od piwa i wódy. Co do przeżyć to wiadomo gwałcimy zakonnice, psujemy groby i mówimy dużo brzydkich słów. Bandów słucham od groma z wielu gatunków, ale kilka takich którymi się inspiruję w TC: Razor, Cranium, Sarcofago, Sabbat, Sodom, Exodus (BONDED BY BLOOD!!!), Exciter, Agent Steel. Także praktycznie trafiłeś ze skojarzeniami.

N: W sumie najlepiej powiedzieć, że mamy podobny gust muzyczny, przez co mamy wspólną spójną wizję na zespół i co chcemy dalej robić czyli chlać i mordować wasze bębenki uszne old schoolowym speed metalem!

S: Jakie macie plany na najbliższą przyszłość? Mam na myśli czy po waszej pierwszej EP-ce, potem nagracie znowu jakąś EP-kę czy jednak przygotowujecie się już powoli na nagranie pełno grającego albumu? 

D: Chuj wie co nam do tych głupich łbów strzeli, ale na pewno nie będzie to odgrzane demo jak poprzednie wydawnictwo.

N: To co następne nagramy będzie zależało od spożytej przez nas ilości alkoholu więc ciężko powiedzieć kiedy coś wydamy i w jakim formacie.

S: Gdyby była niedługo jednak taka możliwość na zorganizowanie koncertu, lub moglibyście zagrać przed jakimś polskim zespołem metalowym to jaka by to była ekipa? Tu mam na myśli bardziej, jaki zespół metalowy z naszej ojczystej ziemi bardzo szanujecie i wpłynął również na wasz gust muzyczny i styl grania. Zgaduję, że pewnie KAT hehe.

D: Co do Kata to raczej mało chętnie biorąc pod uwagę kondycję Kata z Romanem i kaszanę jaką robi Luczyk (z całym szacunkiem do twórczości KAT-a z lat 80/90) Z Polskich ekip najlepiej bym się chyba czuł wśród Pandemic, Gallowera czy Necromastery. Jest wiele świetnych kapel w naszym kraju ale jeśli mam wymienić kilka to właśnie te.

N: "Kat" Luczyka possał pałę po całości swoją ostatnią płytą więc raczej odpadają na gig z nami.

S: Gdy tworzycie swoje utwory to bardzo inspirujecie się jakimiś metalowymi kapelami, szukacie z ich utworów jakieś melodii by wymyślić coś swojego, czy zazwyczaj jest tak, że spotykacie się na próbach i po prostu wymyślacie swoje utwory bardzo naturalnie, mam na myśli to, że po prostu gracie, zaczynacie improwizować i dążycie do wykreowania własnego stylu i brzmienia.

D: Po prostu chwytam za gitę i napierdalam. Tyle.

N: W sumie Dave napierdala na tyle dobre riffy, nie trzeba się niczym inspirować! Poza tym założenie jest takie, żeby nie brzmieć jak odgrzewany kotlet po 40 latach tylko coś swojego nieść do tej muzyki. 

S: Jak zaczęła się ogólnie wasza przygoda muzyczna? Mam na myśli, od kiedy już razem gracie, jak się poznaliście jako ekipa i od mniej więcej którego roku gracie razem? A i jeszcze jedno pytanie z ciekawości. Kto z was wpadł na taką nazwę zespołu? 

D: Razem gramy od końcówki 2019 roku w sumie od sylwestra bo to wtedy pierwszy track nagraliśmy, nazwę ja przyniosłem, a Nikki stwierdził że jest w pytę i musimy pod tym szyldem grać. 

N: Chłopie czemu Ty naszego metallum nie przejrzałeś, tam daty masz wszystkie, a co do poznania się to było to w dzień nagrania numeru 'Speed Metal From Hell', mieliśmy spędzić sylwestra na jednej imprezie, ale jakoś tak się złożyło, że przed sylwestrem pochlaliśmy na tyle, że ciężko nam się patrzyło na alkohol więc zamiast do walenia wódy usiedliśmy do nagrywania przy paru browarach.

S: Jak wygląda historia okładki do waszej pierwszej EP-ki i czy kryje się za nią jakaś tajemnica, okładka ma coś ważnego przekazać? czy raczej nie ma co się doszukiwać w niej czegoś głębszego. 

D: Tajemnica jest taka że jebać nowoczesny metal i bring back the 80s Speed Metal.

N: I am the graves of the 80s, I am the risen dead! Destroy their modern metal and bang your fucking head UGH! 

S: Jakie są wasze największe inspiracje jeśli chodzi o kwestię wokalu w zespole? no i jacy gitarzyści najbardziej was inspirują (mam na myśli oczywiście gitarzystę, basistę) i jaki perkusista najbardziej inspiruje waszego bębniarza?

D: Z gity i basu to zależy co gram, ale w przypadku TC akurat inspiruje mnie chyba najbardziej Dave Carlo. Naszego perkusistę natomiast sam pan bóg   bo kurwa nie istnieje.

N: Jesus Christ-son of a whore 

S: Dziękuje wam serdecznie za wywiad i za to, że zgodziliście się, że mogłem go z wami przeprowadzić. Życzę tobie Dave jak i Nikkiemu samych sukcesów na scenie metalowej. Myślę, że jest to niezmiernie ważne by wspierać młode utalentowane polskie zespoły metalowe. Czy jest coś co chcecie powiedzieć/przekazać na koniec do waszych fanów i słuchaczy? Może chcecie zdradzić jakiś sekret dotyczący przyszłych planów zespołu, albo uchylić rąbka jakieś tajemnicy. KVLT! 

D: Nie ma problemu. Nie wiem co na to reszta naszego licznego w chuj składu ale mi się podobało, a na koniec co mogę powiedzieć - Grajcie szybko, chlejcie piwo!, odwróćcie krzyż i bring back the 80s!

VORKUTA - 'Wandering Alone In The Forest of Transcendence'

    Another day, another black metal band - this time it's gonna be VORKUTA with its short, two-track EP, which blew me off my feet, to be honest. 

With the first track being a rather atmospheric, instrumental sound, and the second one a killer black metal artistry, the EP had to turn out great - and it surely did. 

The attention-drawing purple logo resonates with the loved-by-all old-school soul. 

A simple cover is what I love - a very mood influential intro to the material, which allows you to have a small glimpse into what's to come.

    The mysterious-sounding opening track is a hell of a great mood influencer, what's more, it gives you around four great minutes of magical forest sound.

After this divine intro, we're being dragged into a full-on black metal mastery titled 'Incarnations Turned to Charred Flesh'. 

This track is the second, and the last one on the EP, but the best out of these two. Its drum brutality goes well in pair with the coldness and grimness of guitar riffs, which go hand-in-hand with the scratchy and mournful vocals.

These musical aspects allow a deep and mysterious mood to win over your soul and let you drown in the sea of black metal darkness.

The mood experience is quite clear here, everything can be understood and easily matched to the music - this perfect fit allows the listeners to take out a full and rich listening experience, which will, for sure, make a big impact on the audience.

    In my opinion, this EP is a decent, but unfortunately too short release. Hearing how well the band did on both tracks, we could only wish for more.

Everything was done accordingly to how old-school black metal should sound, and in addition, the EP preserved the original soul of the genre as well.

    Kolejny dzień, kolejny black metalowy zespół - tym razem będzie to VORKUTA ze swoją krótką, EP-ką dwuutworową, która szczerze mówiąc, powaliła mnie z nóg.

Utwory gwarantują świetny materiał -  pierwszy z nich miał raczej nastrojowe, instrumentalne brzmienie, drugi zabójczy black metalowy artyzm, więc EPka siłą rzeczy musiała się okazać świetna - i tak dokładnie się stało.

Przyciągające uwagę fioletowe logo rezonuje ukochaną przez wszystkich old-schoolową duszą black metalu.

Uwielbiam tą prostą okładkę - jest jak bardzo wpływające na nastrój wizualne intro do materiału, które pozwala rzucić okiem na to, co dopiero ma nadejść.

    Tajemniczo brzmiący utwór otwierający EPkę to piekielnie mocny wpływ na nastrój, co więcej, daje Ci około czterech minut magicznego i mrocznego leśnego brzmienia.

Po tym zabójczym intro, zostajemy wciągnięci do black metalowego mistrzostwa zatytułowanego „Incarnations Turned to Charred Flesh”.

Ten utwór jest drugim i ostatni na EPce, oraz najlepszym z tych dwóch. Jego brutalność perkusji dobrze komponuje się z chłodem i ponurością gitarowych riffów, które idą w parze z szorstkim i żałobnym wokalem.

Dzięki tym muzycznym aspektom głęboki i tajemniczy nastrój zawładnie Twoją duszą i pozwoli zatopić się w morzu black metalowego mroku.

Nastrój jest tutaj dość wyraźny, wszystko można zrozumieć i łatwo dopasować do muzyki - to idealne zgranie pozwala słuchaczom na pełne i bogate doznania słuchowe, które z pewnością wywrą duży wpływ.

    Moim zdaniem ta EPka to naprawdę profesjonalne, ale niestety zbyt krótkie wydawnictwo. Słysząc, jak dobrze zespół poradził sobie na obu utworach, mogliśmy tylko życzyć sobie więcej.

Wszystko zostało zrobione zgodnie z tym, jak powinien brzmieć oldschoolowy black metal, a dodatkowo EP-ka zachowała też oryginalną duszę gatunku i pozwoliła jej wybrzmieć w bardzo utalentow.

 MACE HEAD – 'Sanctuary' LP

   This will be my second Mace Head review! I liked the previous album from Mace Head - 'Damälog', but after listening to 'Sanctuary' I now know that at the moment it is my favorite material from Mace Head! It's harsh, old-school, and has a distinctive raw black metal sound. So that's all I like the most. I invite you to my review of this album.    

  What is thrown right after the first listening to the 'Sanctuary' album is that we have a great old-school sound here. We are already in 2021, and this album (for home recording conditions) sounds really good, atmospheric, and mega old-school. Overall, the sound of this album reminds me of Darkthrone recordings from the 1980s. Czech. It is also worth noting that on this album we have a very cool, atmospheric, and interesting use of ambient inserts that give the atmosphere here as if we were in the middle of a castle in Moravia. You could say that we have a Dungeon sound of these ambients here. As I mentioned earlier in my previous review of the first album from Mace Head, I often associate this artist's music with Master's Hammer which represents the genre of black metal and is also a band from the Czech Republic like Mace Head. We also have a lot of great old-school riffs on the 'Sanctuary' album. One of my favorite tracks on this album is track number two, 'Mind Attack'. An old-school riff from the beginning of the composition that really sticks in my memory. Brilliant piece. 

  Summing up, if you love raw black metal recorded at home (i.e. with its characteristic dirty sound in bad quality - and at the same time good :D because this give mega atmosphere and just old-school spirit to such music) then you need to listen to the next album From Mace Head. His first album is also really great and has a lot to offer, but in my opinion, his album 'Sanctuary' show that a young talented artist from the Czech Republic is developing more and better in playing his music and searching for his own sound, and at the moment he is doing really well.

  To będzie już moja druga recenzja Mace Head! Poprzedni album od Mace Head – 'Damälog' bardzo mi się podobał, ale po przesłuchaniu 'Sanctuary' teraz wiem, że na ten moment jest to mój ulubiony materiał od Mace Head! Jest ostry, old-schoolowy i jest z charakterystycznym raw black metalowym brzmieniem. Czyli to wszystko co lubię najbardziej. Zapraszam do mojej recenzji tego albumu. 

   Co się rzuca od razu po pierwszym przesłuchaniu płyty 'Sanctuary' to to, że mamy tutaj doskonałe old-schoolowe brzmienie. Mamy już 2021 rok, a ten album (jak na warunki domowego nagrywania) brzmi naprawdę dobrze, klimatycznie i mega old-schoolowo. Brzmienie w sumie tej płyty kojarzy mi się z nagraniami Darkthrone z lat 80. Dla miłośników właśnie takiego brzmienia w klimacie Black/Heavy/Punku Mace Head jest pozycją obowiązkową i każdy kto kocha takie granie powinien jak najszybciej zapoznać się z muzyką tego bardzo zdolnego artysty z Czech. Warto również zaznaczyć, że na tym albumie mamy bardzo fajne, klimatyczne i ciekawe użycie ambientowych wstawek, które nadają tutaj klimatu jakbyśmy byli w środku jakiegoś zamku na Morawach. Można powiedzieć, że mamy tutaj takie Dungeonowe brzmienie tych ambientów. Jak już wcześniej też wspomniałem w mojej poprzedniej recenzji pierwszej płyty od Mace Head często muzyka tego artysty kojarzy mi się także z Master’s Hammer który reprezentuję gatunek black metalu i również jest zespołem z Czech jak Mace Head.  Na albumie 'Sanctuary' mamy także naprawdę masę świetnych old-schoolowych riffów. Jednym z moich ulubionych kawałków na tej płycie jest utwór numer dwa, czyli 'Mind Attack' Old-schoolowy riff od początku trwania kompozycji, który naprawdę zapadł mi w pamięć. Genialny kawałek. 

    Podsumowując, jeśli kochasz surowy black metal nagrywany w warunkach domowych (czyli ze swoim charakterystycznym brudnym brzmieniem w złej jakości – a jednocześnie dobrej :D bo daję to mega klimatu i właśnie old-schoolowego ducha takiej muzyce) to musisz zapoznać się z kolejnym albumem Od Mace Head. Jego pierwszy album jest też naprawdę świetny i ma dużo do zaoferowania, ale moim zdaniem album 'Sanctuary' pokazuję, że młody zdolny artysta z Czech coraz bardziej i lepiej się rozwija w graniu swojej muzyki i poszukiwaniu własnego brzmienia i jak na ten moment idzie mu to naprawdę wyśmienicie.

HEGEROTH - 'Perfidia'

Not so long ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing HEGEROTH's earlier album, and now I come back to You with their latest full-length release - 'Perfidia'.

Darker layout, more evil-looking, makes you think about what path the band took on the release. 

I can certainly tell you, that 'Perfidia' is entirely different than 'Degenerate'. It brings a way more advanced material than before, what's more, it's full of musical layers, which I was able to uncover while listening to the album multiple times. 

With such ambitious material and professionally done layout, the polish black metallers provide you a great experience of the new wave of black metal.

On 'Perfidia' we get a great vocal performance. The deep and mournful sound was balanced flawlessly by the angry and scratchy feeling of them. What's more, the vocal game really stepped up by showing broad flexibility and ability to change their sound in a matter of seconds, between high-pitched, deep, or extremely brutal. This range was fully shown on 'Perfidia', making it quite an advanced and difficult-to-top release. 

If we had to analyze guitar riffs, I have to say that those were quite catchy, but a bit of death metal sound crept upon them. That wasn't a bad addition, in my opinion, this move enriched the sound and allowed more people to enjoy the release.

When it comes to the drums, I enjoyed them a lot. Very sophisticated and balanced performance enriched the record, and proved once again that you don't necessarily pound the drums as fast as you can to show off your skills - Hegeroth really showed a top-level quality on 'Perfidia'. 

The mood was equivalent to the level of the music - it was varied, but rather kept in the brutal and anger-influenced side, which sounded to me more like death metal rather than black. Nevertheless, we still got the broad spectrum of dark and cold feelings, completed by the death metal mood. 

All in all, 'Perfidia' is a very ambitious release. While listening to it, you can certainly notice how the band evolved, where they put more work to improve, and how flawlessly they delivered the dark but strong message contained in the music.

This release is a clear example of the new wave of black metal, with really no old-school references at all, but in my opinion that doesn't interrupt in having a pleasant listening experience. 

I'm glad that Hegeroth did this ambitious album, and enclosed in it many musical layers, which really did bring me a full dark experience.

I hope to hear more music from Hegeroth soon.

Nie tak dawno miałam przyjemność recenzować wcześniejszy album HEGEROTH, a teraz wracam do Was z najnowszym, pełnometrażowym wydawnictwem zatytułowanym „Perfidia”.

Mroczniejszy layout, bardziej złowrogi, sprawia, że zastanowicie się, jaką ścieżkę obrał zespół na tym świeżym wydawnictwie.

Z całą pewnością mogę powiedzieć, że „Perfidia” jest zupełnie inna niż „Degenerate”. Przynosi materiał o wiele bardziej zaawansowany niż dotychczas, co więcej, ten album jest pełen muzycznych warstw, które udało mi się odkryć wielokrotnie słuchając tego materiału.

Dzięki tak ambitnemu wydawnictwu i profesjonalnie wykonanej aranżacji, nasi polscy black metallersi zapewniają wspaniałe wrażenia z nowej fali black metalu.

Na „Perfidia” mamy świetne wykonanie wokalne. Głęboki i mroczny dźwięk został bezbłędnie zrównoważony złym i szorstkim uczuciem. Co więcej, gra wokalna naprawdę nabrała tempa, pokazując szeroką elastyczność i możliwość zmiany ich brzmienia w ciągu kilku sekund, z wysokich, do głębokich lub ekstremalnie brutalnych. Ten zakres został w pełni pokazany w „Perfidia”, co czyni go dość zaawansowanym i trudnym do pobicia przez zespół wydaniem.

 Analizując gitarowe riffy, muszę powiedzieć, że były one dość chwytliwe, ale wkradło się do nich trochę death metalowego brzmienia. Nie był to zły dodatek, moim zdaniem ten ruch wzbogacił dźwięk i pozwolił większej liczbie osób cieszyć się wydaniem.

Jeśli chodzi o bębny, bardzo mi się podobały. Ekstremalnie wyrafinowane i wyważone wykonanie wzbogaciło płytę i po raz kolejny udowodniło, że niekoniecznie trzeba walić w bębny tak szybko, jak to tylko możliwe, aby pochwalić się swoimi umiejętnościami - Hegeroth naprawdę pokazał najwyższą jakość na „Perfidii”.

Nastrój odpowiadał poziomowi muzyki - był zróżnicowany, ale raczej utrzymany w brutalnej i pełnej złości stronie, która brzmiała dla mnie bardziej jak death metal niż black. Niemniej jednak wciąż mamy szerokie spektrum mrocznych i zimnych uczuć, uzupełnionych death metalowym klimatem.

Podsumowując, „Perfidia” to bardzo ambitne wydawnictwo. Słuchając go, z pewnością można zauważyć, jak zespół ewoluował, gdzie włożył więcej pracy w ulepszenie muzyki i jak bezbłędnie przekazał mroczny, ale mocny przekaz zawarty w muzyce.

To wydawnictwo jest wyraźnym przykładem nowej fali black metalu, bez żadnych nawiązań do starej szkoły, ale moim zdaniem nie przeszkadza to w przyjemnym słuchaniu.

Cieszę się, że Hegeroth wydał ten ambitny album i zawarł w nim wiele muzycznych warstw, co naprawdę przyniosło mi pełne mroczne przeżycie.

Mam nadzieję, że wkrótce usłyszę więcej muzyki z campu Hegeroth.
