SPELL OF DARK – 'Journey Into The Depths Of Winter' EP

Today's review will belong to the Russian atmospheric ambient black metal, namely to a music project called Spell Of Dark, for which a mysterious artist who hides under a pseudonym - V.T. This musical project creates its lyrics and songs mainly about nature, and what I love the most - winter! - my beloved season! I cordially invite you to my short review of the EP Spell Of Dark titled 'Journey Into The Depths Of Winter'.
At the very beginning, while listening to the material on this EP, I liked how this album sounds as a whole. The sound of guitars, drums, or the ambient used in the songs. Everything here sounds and it reminds me with its sound of real raw black metal from the 80s and 90s, which I love and respect very much. All in all, we can say that we are dealing here with a bit of raw atmospheric black metal. Another very big advantage of this EP is also the great use of ambient. They sound very transcendent here and remind me a bit of the album 'Filosofem' by Burzum. They work on the imagination. I would picture the entire music on Journey Into The Depths Of Winter as cold, but at the same time warm, atmospheric black metal, because the music here reminds me of winter, which is slowly disappearing, the snow begins to gradually melt and somewhere beyond the horizon it feels like slowly, Spring is approaching. It's a really great feeling when listening to music on this material. The composition on this album harmonizes perfectly and you can feel the atmosphere on the cover of this EP. A painting called 'Winter Evening' (1883) by the Russian painter Gabriel Kondratenko was used as a cover of this publication.
To sum up, the above EP from Spell Of Dark only confirms my belief that Russian black metal (especially atmospheric black metal) is at a very high level in this country. As for me, world-class even. If you have not listened to music from Spell Of Dark yet, and you are a fan of such atmospheric black metal bands as, for example, a music project called - Melankoli (also from Russia), you must listen to this EP and get to know the rest of Spell Of Dark music. Ten projekt muzyczny swoje teksty i utwory tworzy głównie o przyrodzie, naturze i o tym co sam najbardziej kocham, czyli o zimie! – moja ukochana pora roku! Serdecznie zapraszam do mojej krótkiej recenzji EP-ki Spell Of Dark pod tytułem 'Journey Into The Depths Of Winter'.
Już na samym początku podczas mojego odsłuchiwania materiału zawartego na tej EP-ce spodobało mi się to, jak brzmi ta płyta jako całokształt. Brzmienie gitar, perkusji czy to użytych ambientów w utworach. Tutaj po prostu wszystko brzmi i przypomina mi swoim dźwiękiem prawdziwy raw black metal z lat 80 i 90, który to gatunek bardzo kocham i szanuje. Można w sumie powiedzieć, że mamy tutaj do czynienia trochę z raw atmosferycznym black metalem. Kolejnym bardzo dużym atutem tej EP-ki jest też świetne użycie ambientów. Brzmią one tutaj bardzo transcendentnie i kojarzą mi się trochę jak na albumie 'Filosofem' od Burzum. Działają na wyobraźnie. Całość ogólnie muzyki na 'Journey Into The Depths Of Winter' zobrazowałbym jako zimny, ale jednocześnie ciepły atmosferyczny black metal, ponieważ muzyka tutaj kojarzy mi się z zimą, która powoli odchodzi, śnieg zaczyna stopniowo topnieć i gdzieś za horyzontem czuć jak powoli, ale wielkimi krokami zbliża się wiosna. To naprawdę wspaniałe uczucie podczas słuchania muzyki na tym materiale. Kompozycję na tym albumie wyśmienicie współgrają i w sumie czuć w nich atmosferę jak na okładce tej EP-ki. Jako cover tego wydawnictwa posłużył obraz o nazwie 'Winter Evening' (1883) autorstwa rosyjskiego malarza – Gabriela Kondratenko.
Podsumowując, powyższa EP-ka od Spell Of Dark tylko utwierdza mnie w przekonaniu, że rosyjski black metal (zwłaszcza atmosferyczny black metal) jest w tym kraju na bardzo wysokim poziomie. Jak dla mnie na światowym poziomie nawet. Jeśli jeszcze nie słuchałeś muzyki od Spell Of Dark, a jesteś fanem takich zespołów z gatunku atmosferycznego black metalu jak np. projekt muzyczny o nazwie – Melankoli (również z Rosji) to koniecznie musisz posłuchać tej EP-ki i zaznajomić się z resztą muzyki od Sepll Of Dark. Bardzo polecam!
