Norwegian black metal stays strong, but more in the underground scene, away from the spotlight - good for it.
HEIIGHUND is the band that strengthens the core of the genre and opposes the trend movement
in black metal. This one-man band from Norway recorded a killer release titled 'Urdrs Brønn' that became yet another fierce record in the black metal underground scene, and also one of the longest since it lasted an hour and ten minutes.
With a very minimalistic and dark layout, the CD represents itself as rather mystical, what's more, it certainly heralds an old-school cold material.
With scratchy and demonic sounding vocals, the tracks represent an old-school soul, that also resonates from the gloomy guitar riffs with them being rather straightforward. The vocals scored decent support and enrichment throughout the fiery guitar work.
I have to highlight how neatly the drums were done. With their 90's sound, we got a rich performance, that was also extremely mood influential - in my case, even more than the vocals.
As I said, the mood that the drum performance provided, made me feel as if I was listening to a black metal album straight from the '90s. These brutal blast beats were enriched by a very knowledgeable usage of cymbals, brought the utter feeling of coldness, darkness, and loneliness in the frozen forest of death
Those deep emotions were enriched and made almost touchable by the demonic-sounding vocals.
I'm glad to hear that bands like HEIINGHUND still exist and keep the original flame of traditional black metal alive. No filters, no beautifiers, just pure rage and rebellion against the cancerous mass culture. That's what we love and that's what we want, so hopefully, the band, as well as the tremendous label (Cold Northern Breeze Records), will release way more gems like this one.

Norweski black metal pozostaje dość silny, ale bardziej na scenie undergroundowej, z dala od centrum uwagi - i tak jest dobrze.
HEIINGHUND to zespół, który wzmacnia rdzeń gatunku i przeciwstawia się zamianie mrocznego gatunku w trend. Ten jednoosobowy zespół z Norwegii nagrał zabójcze wydawnictwo zatytułowane „Urdrs Brønn”, które stało się kolejnym mocnym albumem na black metalowej scenie undergroundowej, a także jednym z najdłuższych, odkąd trwał godzinę i dziesięć minut.
Dzięki bardzo minimalistycznej i mrocznej szacie wizualnej CD prezentuje się raczej mistycznie, co więcej, z pewnością zapowiada oldschoolowy zimny materiał.
Z szorstkim i demonicznie brzmiącym wokalem, utwory reprezentują oldschoolową duszę, która również rezonuje poprzez ponure gitarowe riffy, a ich brzmienie jest raczej proste. Wokale zyskały przyzwoite wsparcie i wzbogacenie podczas ognistej pracy gitary.
Muszę podkreślić, jak starannie wykonano bębny. Z ich brzmieniem z lat 90-tych otrzymaliśmy bogate wykonanie, które również miało ogromny wpływ na nastrój - w moim przypadku nawet bardziej niż wokale.
Jak powiedziałam, nastrój jaki zapewnił mi performance perkusji sprawił, że poczułam się, jakbym słuchała black metalowego albumu rodem z lat 90-tych. Te brutalne uderzenia zostały wzbogacone bardzo umiejętnym użyciem talerzy, przyniosły uczucie chłodu, ciemności i samotności w zamarzniętym lesie śmierci.
Te głębokie emocje zostały wzbogacone i uczynione niemal dotykalnymi przez demonicznie brzmiący wokal.
Cieszę się, że zespoły takie jak HEIINGHUND wciąż istnieją i utrzymują przy życiu oryginalny płomień tradycyjnego black metalu. Żadnych filtrów, żadnych upiększaczy, tylko czysta wściekłość i bunt przeciwko rakotwórczej kulturze masowej. To jest to, co kochamy i tego właśnie chcemy, więc miejmy nadzieję, że zespół, a także świetna wytwórnia (Cold Northern Breeze Records) wydadzą znacznie więcej takich perełek jak ta.
