A second album from the young Polish atmospheric black metal band has emerged around a month ago. An extremely beautiful and captivating layout featuring a magical cover art heralds splendid, mysterious, and intriguing material which will mostly be focused on the mysteries of the cosmos, its history, as well as its legends.
“ The Hidden Portals” consists of nine tracks which all take up topics related to outer space, astrology, dark cosmic topics.
Splendid guitar riffs and harmonies created some kind of unreachable world with its mystic feeling, what’s more, the spoken parts by A.Bouillanne highlighted this vibe and added a bit of astrological character to the whole picture. Extremely sophisticated drum work was a strong background that kept the characteristic of black metal. The vocals of Icyvr were purely black metal, you could hear that they were anger influenced, they also brought a feeling of unknown pain of being unable to grasp and understand the entire knowledge of the cosmos.
The Artistic nature of this album allowed atmospheric black metal and pure underground black metal to mix flawlessly and create a whole that feels like a dark, starry night, when under the stars you light up a fire, cast spells, study the mysteries of the outer space.
On the album, there isn’t so much vocal work but the guitars took up their place and filled it in with creative, influential riffs that worked perfectly as the vocals.
What more can I say? This album is absolutely totally hundred percent different than the first one- The band's skills, as well as ideas, evolved, matured hence the feeling of a grown and very elegant music that not many people can actually understand. The story that the album brings with itself is a rather complex and difficult one because not everyone is able to grasp what was in the creators' minds. Nevertheless, the cosmic mood of this album allowed me to be at peace with my own thoughts and feelings about it. I wasn’t feeling at war with the brutal feelings that black metal usually gives me, but I felt as if I was sitting near the lake watching the stars and listening to the magical music by Rivers Like Veins.
Needless to say that this album is deeply recommended to the atmospheric black metal enjoyers. Its harmonies will not only satisfy these listeners but also some heavy-metal connoisseurs can find gems that will satisfy their ears.
“The Hidden Portals” are a splendid exhibition of flawless connection between the harsh side of BM to the delicate, magical vibe of atmo BM.
The artwork fits wonderfully to the material, the layout is elegant, and presents the lyrics, basically the album as a whole, flawlessly.

Drugi album młodego polskiego, klimatycznego black metalowego zespołu pojawił się około miesiąc temu. Niezwykle piękna i urzekająca szata graficzna z magiczną okładką zapowiada wspaniały, tajemniczy i intrygujący materiał, który skupi się przede wszystkim na tajemnicach kosmosu, jego historii i legendach.
„The Hidden Portals” składa się z dziewięciu utworów, które podejmują tematy związane z kosmosem, astrologią, mrocznymi tematami tego mrocznego tworu.
Świetne gitarowe riffy i harmonie stworzyły nieosiągalny świat, co więcej, partie mówione A.Bouillanne podkreśliły ten klimat i dodały całości astrologicznego charakteru. Niezwykle wyrafinowana praca perkusji była mocnym tłem, które zachowało charakter black metalu. Artystyczny charakter tego albumu pozwolił na bezbłędne wymieszanie atmosferycznego BM-u i czystego undergroundowego black metalu i stworzenie całości, która przypomina ciemną, gwiaździstą noc, kiedy pod gwiazdami rozpalasz ogień, rzucasz zaklęcia, badasz tajemnice mrocznej przestrzeni.
Na albumie nie ma tak dużo pracy wokalnej, ale gitary zajęły jej miejsce i wypełniły je kreatywnymi, wpływowymi riffami, które działały idealnie jak wokal.
Co mogę więcej powiedzieć? Ten album jest absolutnie w stu procentach inny niż pierwszy – zarówno umiejętności zespołu, jak i pomysły ewoluowały, dojrzewały, stąd poczucie dojrzałej i bardzo eleganckiej muzyki, którą niewiele osób może zrozumieć. Historia, którą niesie ze sobą album, jest dość złożona i trudna, ponieważ nie każdy jest w stanie uchwycić to, co było w głowach twórców. Niemniej jednak kosmiczny nastrój tego albumu pozwolił mi pogodzić się z własnymi myślami jak i uczuciami na jego temat. Nie czułam się jak na wojnie z brutalnymi uczuciami, jakie zwykle daje mi black metal, ale czułam się tak, jakbym siedziała nad jeziorem, obserwując gwiazdy i słuchając magicznej muzyki Rivers Like Veins.
Nie trzeba dodawać, że ten album jest głęboko polecany miłośnikom nastrojowego black metalu. Jego harmonie nie tylko zadowolą tych słuchaczy, ale także niektórzy koneserzy heavy metalu znajdą perełki, które zadowolą ich uszy.
„The Hidden Portals” to wspaniały pokaz nieskazitelnego połączenia surowej strony BM z delikatną, magiczną atmosferą atmo BM.
Okładka znakomicie pasuje do materiału, układ jest elegancki, a teksty, i w zasadzie cały album, prezentują się bezbłędnie.
