THURTHUL - 'Fury of Ancient Race'

First, fresh, recently released (2020) full-length by Thurthul swept me off my feet.
I really can't put in words how the album 'Fury of Ancient Race' grasped my attention and left me speechless by its vault of catchy riffs, breathtaking vocals, and very sophisticated drum work.
The cover art itself heralds a rotten to the bone material - the two-color design of the vinyl edition catches attention with its artwork by Grafithamu. While listening to the album I also recommend keeping attention to the artwork - then you'll hear the cover art in the music, hear the story, and get full of musical visions listening experience.
Grief did a splendid job in creating and performing guitar riffs- they were structured, but didn't overwhelm you with their amount of varied creativity. I surely felt deep, creative energy flowing from them, as well as they strongly influenced my feelings - but on that topic a bit later.
The drums were performed in a rather sophisticated and elegant manner - not too brutal, just the right amount of everything.
The vocal performance finished off this musical masterpiece with their depth, scratchiness which felt as if the music was digging its nails into my soul to plant its anger, pain, and devotion to music.
Such splendid musical craftsmanship also brought many feelings and music-related visions to the whole experience.
I felt what was shown on the artwork - the war, suffering, anger... but at the same time, a bit of hope and a spark to fight, which surfaced especially in the guitar performance on 'They Shall Perish' (although the title isn't so positively sounding).
I think You all have already noticed how crazy I am about this full-length.
The album's flawless musicianship won me over, the vinyl's layout and artwork enhanced the experience, and the title of the last track 'Against The Modern World' summed everything up perfectly - we are against the modern world, Thurthul's music is, underground BM scene is.
Thanks to projects like this one, because of Grief's devotion to creating such inspirational music, we still have a little hope to survive in this unfamiliar, weird world.

Pierwszy, świeży, niedawno wydany (2020) album polskiego Thurthula zwalił mnie z nóg.
Naprawdę nie potrafię wyrazić słowami, jak album „Fury of Ancient Race” przykuł moją uwagę i pozostawił mnie bez słowa przez swoje chwytliwe riffy, zapierające dech w piersiach wokale i bardzo wyrafinowaną pracę perkusji.
Sama okładka zwiastuje zgniły do szpiku kości materiał – dwukolorowa konstrukcja winylowego wydania przykuwa uwagę grafiką autorstwa Graffithamu. Podczas słuchania albumu polecam również zwrócić uwagę na oprawę graficzną - wtedy usłyszycie okładkę w muzyce, historię i doznacie pełnych muzycznych wizji i wrażeń odsłuchowych.
Grief wykonał świetną robotę przy tworzeniu i wykonywaniu gitarowych riffów - były ustrukturyzowane, ale nie przytłaczały cię swoją różnorodnością kreatywności. Na pewno czułam płynącą z nich głęboką, twórczą energię, a także silnie wpłynęły na moje odczucia - ale na ten temat nieco później.
Perkusja została wykonana w dość wyrafinowany i elegancki sposób - niezbyt brutalnie, wszystko w odpowiedniej ilości.
Wokalny występ dokończył to muzyczne arcydzieło swoją głębią, chropowatością, która sprawiała wrażenie, jakby muzyka wbijała się w moją duszę, by zasiać gniew, ból i nieskończone oddanie muzyce.
Tak wspaniały kunszt muzyczny wniósł też do całego doświadczenia wiele wrażeń i wizji związanych z muzyką.
Czułam to, co pokazano na grafice – wojnę, cierpienie, złość… ale jednocześnie trochę nadziei i iskierkę do walki, która pojawiła się zwłaszcza w gitarowym wykonaniu w „They Shall Perish” (choć tytuł nie brzmi tak pozytywnie).
Chyba już wszyscy zauważyliście, jak bardzo zwariowałam na punkcie tego pełnometrażowego albumu.
Nieskazitelna muzykalność wydania przekonała mnie do siebie, layout i oprawa graficzna winyli potęgowały wrażenia, a tytuł ostatniego utworu „Against The Modern World” podsumował wszystko idealnie – jesteśmy przeciwko współczesnemu światu, muzyka Thurthula jest, undergroundowa scena BM jest .
Dzięki takim projektom, jak ten, dzięki oddaniu Griefowi w tworzeniu tak inspirującej muzyki, wciąż mamy małą nadzieję na przetrwanie w tym nieznanym, dziwnym świecie.
