LUCIFER'S DUNGEON - 'Music of Lost Spirits p.II'

Continuing with yet another review of Lucifer's Dungeon's one of the latest albums - 'Music of lost spirits p.II' is surely an entirely different release than the previous one. It hits differently, surprises with the unexpected, and leaves with a feeling of failure.
This Russian-based one-man project tried something more black/death metal-oriented - this was quite a surprise for me.
I was expecting the raw, underground brutality of black metal, but I was hit with something else - a bit difficult to understand the mix of genres.
The mood on this album wasn't clearly understandable - it was too mixed, it didn't bring any permanent emotions or mystical visions. I think, that the release wasn't too consistent and decided on the kind of genre it wanted to be in. Mostly it sounded death-metally to me - the growling vocals accompanied by fat and juicy guitar riffs and a rather technical drumming only confirmed me in that opinion.
Despite of those strong death metal characteristics, the darkness and grimness of underground BM tried to shine through them and succeeded a few times- unfortunately with a rather negative outcome. That inconsistency and lack in gluing the genres together damaged the outcome of the album as well as the impressions and vibes it brought to me.
Nevertheless, the ultimate darkness and brutality saved the album and let it shine in particular moments in the material.
As for the layout of the release, I have to appreciate its satisfying minimalism which was resonating with very mischievous energy.
To sum up, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the album. It didn't bring any top-level music, my feelings weren't influenced by it at all - all that was a result of a lack of strong, creative glue in between the genres.
If you enjoy the DM genre, I think that this release will be a captivating creation to listen to.

Kontynuując kolejną recenzją jednego z kolekcji najnowszych albumów Lucifer's Dungeon - 'Music of lost spirits p.II' mogę z pewnością stwierdzić, że jest to zupełnie inne wydawnictwo niż poprzednie. Uderza inaczej, zaskakuje nieoczekiwanym i odchodzi z poczuciem porażki.
Ten jednoosobowy projekt z Rosji spróbował czegoś bardziej zorientowanego na black/death metal - to było dla mnie nie lada niespodzianką.
Spodziewałam się surowej, undergroundowej brutalności black metalu, ale uderzyło mnie coś innego - trochę trudnej do zrozumienia mieszanki gatunków.
Nastrój na tym albumie nie był do końca zrozumiały - zbyt mieszany, nie wnosił trwałych emocji ani mistycznych wizji. Wydaje mi się, że wydawnictwo nie było zbyt konsekwentne i zdecydowane co do gatunku, w którym ostatecznie chciało zostać. W większości brzmiało dla mnie death metalowo - growlujący wokal w towarzystwie tłustych i soczystych gitarowych riffów oraz raczej techniczna perkusja tylko mnie potwierdziły w mojej opinii.
Pomimo tych mocnych death metalowych cech, mrok i ponurość undergroundowego BM próbowały się przez nie przebić i kilka razy się to udało - niestety z raczej negatywnym skutkiem. Ta niekonsekwencja i brak spojenia gatunków zepsuły materiał albumu, a także wrażenia i odczucia, które tak czy tak, ledwo mi przyniósł.
Niemniej jednak, mocna ciemność i brutalność uratowały album oraz pozwoliły mu zabłysnąć w poszczególnych momentach materiału.
Jeśli chodzi o szatę graficzną wydawnictwa, to muszę docenić jej satysfakcjonujący minimalizm, który emanował bardzo niecną, mroczną energią.
Podsumowując, album nie do końca mnie zadowolił. Nie przyniósł muzyki na najwyższym poziomie, w ogóle nie miał wpływu na moje uczucia – wszystko to wynikało z braku silnego, kreatywnego spojenia pomiędzy gatunkami.
Jeśli lubisz gatunek DM, myślę, że to wydawnictwo będzie interesującą kreacją do posłuchania, jednak nie taką z najwyższej półki.
