Finally, another death metal review graces the pages of MetalHellvolution!
This time, it's a young Norwegian band RUUN and their three-track single, which was released in 2019.
As you all know, I'm not a fan of pure death metal, but this band plays something much to my liking- death metal mixed with black - this pleasant mix totally stole my heart.
Extremely strong and brutal guitar riffs catch your attention right away and resonate mostly with the black metal vibe. Their strength is matched flawlessly with the brutally technical death metal style of drum performance, which represents the genre wonderfully.
Those two differently-sounding instruments vibe together greatly and make a decent coherent whole, which deeply influences the mood.
But before I touch upon the topic of mood, I have to still analyze the two last musical ingredients.
I'm obliged to say, that I was positively surprised, by how the bass' work was highlighted, and nicely hearable. RUUN is a band, that certainly appreciates good fat bass lines, which provide strong support for the slightly higher in scale guitar riffs and brutal drums.
The vocals are strictly death metal ones, but to be honest, they fitted perfectly to the rest of the instruments, forming with them a strong coalition.
I have to say that this kind of vocals isn't my top favorite, but on 'Atheos' they melted flawlessly with the more black metal music and provided a full spectrum of feelings.
As I already have mentioned, the mood was a rich one- in the beginning, it allowed us to get into the dark loneliness, and feel as if we were surrounded by the cold northern winds. After those rather calmer feelings, we faced a strong death metal anger, that was reinforced by the utter brutality and red energy throughout the whole single.
All in all, 'Atheos' is a pure example of a perfect mix between death and black metal.
It has all the characteristics a decent record needs, what's more, it introduced a wide variety of dark, music-related feelings, which provided me an unforgettable experience.
'Atheos' surely made me appreciate death metal more, and allowed me to look at it differently - hopefully, I'll get around to more records like this one and review them for your reading pleasure.

Tym razem jest to młody norweski zespół RUUN i ich składający się z trzech utworów singiel, który ukazał się w 2019 roku.
Jak wszyscy wiecie, nie jestem fanką czystego death metalu, ale ten zespół gra coś, co bardzo podeszło mi do gustu - death metal zmieszany z blackiem - ta przyjemna mieszanka totalnie skradła moje serce.
Niezwykle mocne i brutalne gitarowe riffy od razu przykuwają uwagę i rezonują głównie black metalowym klimatem. Ich siła bezbłędnie miesza się z brutalnie technicznym death metalowym stylem perkusji, który wspaniale reprezentuje ten gatunek.
Te dwa różnie brzmiące instrumenty świetnie ze sobą współgrają i tworzą przyzwoitą, spójną całość, która głęboko wpływa na nastrój.
Zanim jednak przejdę do tematu nastroju, muszę jeszcze przeanalizować dwa ostatnie składniki muzyczne.
Przyznaję bez bicia, że pozytywnie zaskoczyło mnie to, jak podkreślono pracę basu, oraz jak bardzo ją słychać - w przeciwieństwie do innych zespołów. RUUN to najwidoczniej zespół, który z pewnością ceni sobie dobre, tłuste linie basu, które zapewniają mocne wsparcie dla nieco wyższych gitarowych riffów i brutalnej perkusji.
Wokale są stricte death metalowe, ale szczerze mówiąc idealnie pasowały do reszty instrumentów, tworząc z nimi silną koalicję.
Muszę powiedzieć, że ten rodzaj wokali nie jest moim ulubionym, ale na „Atheos” bezbłędnie stapiał się z bardziej black metalową muzyką i zapewniał pełne spektrum uczuć, oraz zapalił we mnie iskierkę pozytywnego uczucia skierowanego na ich performance.
Jak już wspomniałam, nastrój był bogaty - na początku pozwolił nam wejść w mroczny chłód i poczuć się, jakbyśmy byli otoczeni zimnymi północnymi wiatrami. Po tych raczej spokojniejszych uczuciach, stanęliśmy w obliczu silnego death metalowego gniewu, który został wzmocniony przez całkowitą brutalność i czerwoną energię, która przewijała się w całym singlu.
Podsumowując, 'Atheos' jest czystym przykładem idealnego połączenia death i black metalu.
Ma wszystkie cechy, których potrzebuje porządna płyta, co więcej, wprowadza szeroką gamę mrocznych, muzycznych doznań, co dostarczyło mi niezapomnianych wrażeń.
„Atheos” z pewnością sprawił, że bardziej doceniłam death metal, oraz pozwolił mi spojrzeć na ten gatunek inaczej - mam nadzieję, że znajdę więcej płyt takich jak ta i zrecenzuję je dla Waszej przyjemności czytania.
