GLOOSH - 'The River' (2020) EP

Gloosh is a one-man black metal project from Siberia (from town to be exact Krasnoyarsk) created by Georgy Gabrielyan, or acting under the artist nick Foltath Eternum. At the beginning of July, he released his new EP called "The River", which I have just listened to, and now I am going to write a review about this EP. This mini-album, lasting less than 26 minutes, starts with an instrumental intro called "Rivulets", which in a word we are in the magic of this release, it all starts very mystically, with birds singing and the sounds of nature, and in the background, we heard something of dungeon synths music (at least I feel this) I must also praise the author of the cover for this album, and he is a Russian graphic artist with the nickname inersys32, I would recommend watching works from him. Here he did something amazing because the music on this disc is exactly like the cover itself. Listening to this music, I immediately associate its atmosphere with the main picture for this EP. The next track "Sources" starts with an acoustic guitar, and it grows very slowly but climatically with each passing second. Later on, the other instruments come, and then the song explodes - speeding up, and we have very good heavy climatic riffs and aggressive harsh, and growl vocals. In general, I listen to riffs on this album and guitar melodies, and I associate them with the atmosphere combine melodies and riffs by Burzum and Bathory, and the whole atmosphere and these acoustic parts remind me of the band Dissection. "The Estuary", is the longest composition on this EP. It is a very strong track in which we have a mixed tempo, accelerations, and slowing down. We have atmospheric riffs, and a melody played in tremolo and acoustic parts. A song that reminds me that we were in the middle of a raw Siberian forest and this climate. The last number is "Stones" which is the outro and instrumental ending of this album. It is a reference to the first track on this album, which is similar in sound and the same style. "Stones" is a brace here, perfect close for this great EP. The atmosphere and mysticism come from this composition. Listening to this and in my head and imagination, I can see the cover art of this EP again. Summing up, Gloosh - "The River "is a perfect position for all fans of black and atmospheric black folk metal. If you like the atmosphere of Bathory and Burzum music and the own sound created by Gloosh during his first full-length album "Timewheel" also from the same year, you have to listen to this release. We just have to wait, what will be new on the full album from this artist, or maybe this EP is just a preview of the atmosphere of his future new release? We'll see 😉

Gloosh to jednoosobowy projekt black metalowy z Syberii (dokładnie z miasta Krasnoyarska) za który odpowiedzialny jest Georgy Gabrielyan, lub działający pod pseudonimem artystycznym Foltath Eternum. Na początku lipca wydał on swoją nową EPke o nazwie ''The River" którą właśnie nie dawno miałem okazję przesłuchać, a teraz ją zrecenzować. Ten mini album trwający niecałe 26 minut zaczyna się instrumentalnym intrem o nazwie "Rivulets'', który wprowadza nas w magię tego wydawnictwa. Wszystko zaczyna się bardzo mistycznie, od śpiewu ptaków, oraz dźwięków przyrody, a w tle przygrywa nam coś w rodzaju dungeon synthów (przynajmniej ja tak to odczułem) Muszę też przy okazji pochwalić autora okładki dla tej płyty, a jest nim rosyjski grafik o nicku inersys32, którego prace serdecznie polecam obejrzeć. Tutaj wykonał coś niesamowitego, ponieważ muzyka znajdująca się na tym krążku, jest dokładnie tak samo zobrazowana jak sama okładka. Słuchając tej muzyki od razu jej klimat kojarzy mi się właśnie z głównym obrazem dla tej EP-ki. Kolejny kawałek, to "The Source" zaczyna się od wstawki na gitarze akustycznej, i bardzo powoli, ale klimatycznie narasta z każdą sekundą. Później dochodzą pozostałe instrumenty, a potem utwór wybucha, następuje przyśpieszenie kawałka, oraz mamy tu bardzo dobre ciężkie klimatyczne riffy i agresywny harszujący oraz growlujący wokal. Ogólnie gdy słucham riffów na tym albumie i melodii gitarowych, kojarzą mi się one z klimatem jakby połączyć melodie i riffy Burzum oraz Bathory, a całość klimatu i tych wstawek akustycznych kojarzy mi się jeszcze na dodatek z zespołem Dissection. Przed ostatni kawałek "The Estuary'', to najdłuższa kompozycja na tej EPce. Jest to bardzo silny utwór, w którym mamy wymieszane tempa, są przyśpieszenia oraz zwolnienia. Mamy klimatyczne riffy, oraz melodię zagrane w tremolo, i akustyczne wstawki. Utwór który może kojarzyć się nam, jakbyśmy byli w środku syberyjskiego surowego lasu i tego klimatu. Ostatni numer to "Stones" który jest outrem i zakończeniem instrumentalnym tego albumu. Jest to nawiązanie, do pierwszego utworu na tym krążku, który jest podobny brzmieniowo i w takim samym stylu. "Stones" pełni tu klamrę, zamknięcie tej wspaniałej EPki. Klimat, atmosfera oraz mistycyzm aż wylewa się z tej kompozycji. Słuchając tego zamknięcia albumu, w mojej głowie i wyobraźni znowu widzę i przypomina mi się okładka tej EPki. Podsumowując, Gloosh - "The River" to doskonała pozycja dla wszystkich fanów black oraz atmospheric black folk metalu. Jeśli lubisz klimaty muzyki Bathory, Burzum no i własnego brzmienia jakie Gloosh wykreował podczas swojej pierwszej długogrającej płyty "Timewheel" również z tego samego roku, to musisz posłuchać tego wydawnictwa. Pozostało nam tylko czekać, jaki będzie nowy pełny album od tego artysty, a może ta EP-ka to właśnie zapowiedź w jakim klimacie będzie jego przyszłe nowe wydawnictwo? Zobaczymy 😉
