"D.G.A.F" EP by Cadaver

The new Cadaver EP - "D.G.A.F" was released under Nuclear Blast Records label on April 14th. Recorded and mixed in Northwood Sound studio in California with a guest appearance by Jeff Walker. Cover art made by Adam Medford.
This release brightened up my weekend and drew my attention to searching for negative aspects of the record rather than thinking about these current terrible times of pandemic. What I want to highlight at the beginning of this review, is that I'm picky as hell when it comes to the feelings, message as well as the sound in any new release... Not many bands tend to satisfy my high expectations with their newly released music but Cadaver... those guys gave me shivers down my spine and energized me to the highest level possible. The EP lasts only 10 minutes and 37 seconds ( 😞 ) but it brings You a good amount of death metal with a pint of thrash.
The first song - "D.G.A.F" is for sure my favorite one. Anders' and Jeff Walker's voices sound powerful as hell, Neddo's deadly perfect guitar skills and Dirk's insanely fast blast beats fit so well together that the first time I listened to the song I had to sit down and listen to it again... This track is impossibly energizing and overwhelming positively.
The only thing which surprised me was the first guitar solo after just a minute and a half after the beginning of the song. I extremely hate early solos but as I mentioned earlier, I didn't manage to find that a negative aspect. In fact, I feel like this solo is right where it should be.
Another thing which stood out to me was a thrashy-sounding influence on that song... maybe I'm wrong, but that's how it sounded to me and I extremely loved it, so no harm here either.
Jumping to the second song titled "Deformed Insanity". Slower beginning, catchy guitar riff combined with not-so-slow blast beats and inspiring lyrics... Then all of that turns into fast death metal with high quality. This record doesn't give me such extreme emotions like the first song but I can surely say, that this song is one of a kind experience which shows how well the band managed to keep the pure death metal sound in this one.
Last but not least is "Disgrace". The beginning is very catchy, to be honest, I still can't get it out of my head. The song is a great ending to such a journey-like release. It sums up the meaning of the first two tracks as well as gives us a declaration about what's more to come from the band. The ending of the song is just so powerful that it'll make You listen to the whole EP a few more times...
I just can't put all my feelings into words after listening to "D.G.A.F". It satisfied my weirdly high expectations and, for sure, made me look at the new releases from a different point of view. Since I am still blown away by the quality of the record, I won't say anything more besides that this release moved me in a way that not many productions do.

Wydanie to rozjaśniło mój weekend i zwróciło uwagę na poszukiwanie negatywnych aspektów płyty, zamiast myśleć o obecnych, strasznych czasach pandemii. Na początku tej recenzji chcę podkreślić, że jestem wybredna, jeśli chodzi o uczucia, przesłanie a także dźwięk w każdym nowym wydaniu ... Niewiele zespołów zwykle spełnia moje oczekiwania swoją nowo wydaną muzyką, ale Cadaver ... ci faceci naenergetyzowali mnie do najwyższego możliwego stopnia. EP trwa tylko 10 minut i 37 sekund ( 😞 ), ale zapewnia nam sporo death metalu z odrobiną thrashu.
Pierwszy utwór - „D.G.A.F” jest z pewnością moim ulubionym. Głosy Andersa i Jeffa Walkera brzmią potężnie jak diabli, śmiertelnie perfekcyjne umiejętności gitarowe Neddo i niesamowicie szybkie uderzenia Dirka pasują do siebie tak dobrze, że po raz pierwszy słuchałam utworu, po którym musiałam usiąść i posłuchać jej ponownie ... Ten kawałek jest niewiarygodnie energetyzujący i przytłaczający w pozytywny sposób. Jedyne, co mnie zaskoczyło, to pierwsze solo na gitarze po półtorej minucie po rozpoczęciu utworu. Nie przepadam za wczesnymi solówkami, ale jak wspomniałam wcześniej, nie udało mi się znaleźć negatywnego aspektu nawet w tym kontekście. Uważam, że to solo jest właśnie tam, gdzie powinno być. Kolejną rzeczą, która się wyróżnia, jest thrashowo brzmiący wpływ na tę piosenkę ... może się mylę, ale tak to dla mnie brzmiało i bardzo mi się podobało, więc tu też nic nie działa na niekorzyść zespołu.
Drugi kawałek zatytułowany „Deformed Insanity” jest początkowo wolniejszy z chwytliwym riffem, w połączeniu z niezbyt powolnymi blast beatami i inspirującym tekstem ... Potem wszystko to zamienia się w szybki death metal o wysokiej jakości. Ten utwór nie wywołuje u mnie tak ekstremalnych emocji jak pierwszy kawałek, ale z pewnością mogę powiedzieć, że jest to jedyne w swoim rodzaju doświadczenie, które pokazuje, jak dobrze zespół utrzymał czyste death metalowe brzmienie.
Ostatni jest „Disgrace”. Początek bardzo chwytliwy, szczerze mówiąc, wciąż nie mogę wyrzucić go z głowy. Piosenka jest świetnym zakończeniem tak interesującej "podróży" muzycznej jaką przebywamy słuchając wszystkich nagrań. “Disgrace" podsumowuje znaczenia pierwszych dwóch utworów, a także daje nam zapowiedź o tym, co zespół dalej dla nas szykuje. Zakończenie utworu jest tak potężne, że sprawi, iż jeszcze kilka razy posłuchasz całej EPki ...
Nie mogę wyrazić wszystkich moich uczuć po wysłuchaniu „D.G.A.F”. Ta EPka spełniła moje dziwnie wysokie oczekiwania i na pewna sprawiła, że spojrzałam na nowe wydania z innego punktu widzenia. Ponieważ wciąż jestem pod wrażeniem jakości płyty, nie powiem nic więcej poza tym, że to wydanie poruszyło mnie w sposób w jaki nie udało się wielu innym produkcjom.
