Exactly today in 2006 'KVASS' by Kampfar was released... I'm sure many of you are familiar with this extremely talented band so let's jump straight to the review. 'Lyktemenn' is instrumental for about three minutes into the track. It later develops into a great symphony of vocals and all instruments together. The scream at the end sounds extremely morbid and deadly, it gives me a feeling as if someone was standing on a huge field, got shot and crows surrounded his body... that's at least what I'm seeing after I listen to the whole song. 'Til Siste Man' I love the guitar riffs here. They are quite easy, straightforward but very climate influencing and catchy as well. The drum work is extremely professional as always, in addition, the vocals got this deep feeling to them. When I'm listening to Kampfar I always feel like I'm in an old, mysterious forest or on a huge mountain... This track, somehow, connects both environments and brings them to the listener. The ending is just so perfect... slower, grimmer, sadder... I really like how it influences the mood. 'Ravenheart' is one of the most popular and as some say - the best - tracks of Kampfar. Yes, it's amazing indeed BUT I wouldn't say that it's the best... in my opinion, it is in fact, very well developed and created. Although, I have to say that there are many better tracks from the band. 'Ildverden' sounds to me like a song created for a march or something like that. I don't like guitar riffs here, they sound 'too happy' at some points - at least to my ear. Drums sound a bit boring and 'stuck'. That's my least favorite song of Kampfar ever. I think that changing the guitar riffs here could help... This track is quite a long one and I have to say, although I don't like guitar parts, it didn't make me bored, actually, I liked the way in which the drums were developing with each minute. I always care about the drum work the most and on this track, I can hear the drummer's great talent. Towards the end of this track, we get a medieval sound which made the song even more creative. 'Hat Og Avind' - great and catchy guitar riffs, although the drums sound a little bit stuck at some points. I like vocals, I actually said that like a million times already but Dolk's vocals are sooooo amazing I'll never get enough of them. 'Gaman Av Drømmer' drum parts are my favorite here... nothing much to say about this track. This song, to my ear at least, has the best drumming out of all the other tracks.
Overall, this album is a great one. I like the feeling 'KVASS' gives me while listening to it. I think that it sounds ' lighter' than other Kampfar records but it fits the band's whole discography.

„Lyktemenn” - utwór instrumentalny przez około trzy minuty. Później przekształca się w symfonię wokalu i wszystkich instrumentów razem. Krzyk na końcu brzmi wyjątkowo zabójczo. „Til Siste Man” Tutaj uwielbiam riffy. Są dość proste, chwytliwe, ale również wpływają na klimat. Perkusja jest bardzo profesjonalna, jak zawsze, a ponadto wokale odzwierciedlają głębokie uczucia, które ma w nas wywołać ten kawałek. Kiedy słucham Kampfar, zawsze mam wrażenie, że jestem w starym, tajemniczym lesie lub na wielkiej górze... Ten utwór w jakiś sposób łączy oba środowiska i przenosi je do słuchacza. Zakończenie jest tak idealne ... wolniejsze, ponure, smutniejsze ... Naprawdę podoba mi się to, jak ten utwór wpływa na nastrój. „Ravenheart” to jeden z najpopularniejszych i, jak niektórzy mówią, najlepszych utworów Kampfar. Tak, jest naprawdę niesamowity, jednak nie powiedziałabym, że najlepszy ... moim zdaniem jest w rzeczywistości bardzo dobrze i profesjonalnie stworzony. Chociaż muszę powiedzieć, że zespół ma o wiele więcej lepszych utworów. „Ildverden” brzmi dla mnie jak utwór stworzony do marszu czy czegoś w tym stylu. Nie lubię tutaj gitarowych riffów, w niektórych momentach brzmią „zbyt radośnie” - przynajmniej dla mnie. Perkusja brzmi nieco nudno. To mój najmniej ulubiony utwór Kampfar. Myślę, że zmiana gitarowych riffów tutaj mogłaby pomóc ... Ten utwór jest dość długi i muszę powiedzieć, że chociaż nie lubię partii gitarowych, nie znudził mnie, tak naprawdę spodobał mi się sposób, w jaki partie perkusji rozwijały się z każdą minutą. Zawsze najbardziej zależy mi na klimacie bębnów i na tym utworze słyszę wielki talent perkusisty. Pod koniec utworu słyszymy średniowieczne brzmienie, które uczyniło utwór jeszcze bardziej kreatywnym. „Hat Og Avind” - świetne i chwytliwe gitarowe riffy, w niektórych momentach bębny wydają się trochę zbyt 'zwykłe' . Tutaj bardzo podoba mi się wokal, tak naprawdę pewnie mówiłam niektórym z was to już milion razy, ale wokale Dolk'a są tak niesamowite, że nigdy nie mam ich dość. Partie perkusji na „Gaman Av Drømmer” są moimi ulubionymi… nic więcej do powiedzenia o tym utworze. Ten kawałek, przynajmniej dla mojego ucha, ma najlepszą perkusję spośród wszystkich innych utworów.
Ogólnie ten album jest świetny. Podoba mi się uczucie, które „KVASS” daje mi podczas słuchania. Wydaje mi się, że brzmi „lżej” niż inne płyty Kampfar, ale pasuje do całej dyskografii zespołu.
