I'm coming to you today with an EP in a musical genre I hardly listen to - blackened hardcore/metal. The EP is titled 'The tragedy of Mankind' done by xIRON SHARPENS IRONx, hailing from Michigan. The band provides a great deal of talent, determination, and deep emotions. 'The Tragedy of Mankind' is a 6 track EP that focuses on mental health and overcoming mental struggle - says Larry Passenier. He also adds that all sales of CDs and cassettes are donated to the National Suicide Prevention Line.

The EP starts with a 40-second powerful into track titled 'Oath'. And I totally loved it! Tasty guitar riffs and professional drums introduced the band very well.
When 'Atomic Bomb' began, it reminded me of a bit of Municipal Waste. This track is a greatly made mix between blackened thrash, speed metal, and hardcore. It sounded quite thrashy to me which was a decent sound, and in addition, I liked the way the track evolved witch each second - from thrash into something between black metal mixed with hardcore.
The amount of extremely catchy guitar riffs combined with great drum performance gave me chills. The mood influential tracks which give you a really good time listening to them, and keeping in mind, that the band focused on such important matters like mental illness, just made everything better, gave a deeper meaning to the EP.
About the mood and feeling... well, besides the extreme appreciation I had for a movement that is supposed to open people's eyes for mental struggles, I didn't feel anything more. Of course, I enjoyed the music, but I really didn't experience any feelings which I did with other bands. Obviously, the EP gives you a proof of how much talent xIRON SHARPENS IRONx has since they created such a good EP. But to me, it was nothing more than a good release for an even better cause. I extremely like the cause, the riffs but it, unfortunately, didn't feel groundbreaking for me.
Overall, I think that 'The Tragedy of Mankind' is a good example of how you can connect an extremely important topic with a crazy mix between various metal genres and actually make it sound good.
I recommend 'The Tragedy of Mankind' if you have a desire to discover new and unknown.

Zespół zapewnia wydawnictwem mnóstwo talentu, determinacji i głębokich emocji. „The Tragedy of Mankind” to 6-utworowa EPka skupiająca się na zdrowiu psychicznym i pokonywaniu zmagań psychicznych - mówi Larry Passenier. EPka rozpoczyna się 40-sekundowym mocnym utworem zatytułowanym „Oath”, który całkowicie mi się podobał! Smaczne riffy i profesjonalna perkusja bardzo dobrze przedstawiły zespół i jego zamiary.
Kiedy zaczął się utwór „Atomic Bomb”, trochę mi przypomniał Municipal Waste. Ten utwór to świetnie wykonana mieszanka blackened thrash, speed metalu i hardcore. Brzmiało to i tak bardzo thrashowo, co było przyzwoitym brzmieniem, a ponadto podobał mi się sposób, w jaki utwór ewoluował z każdą sekundą - od thrashu do czegoś pomiędzy black metalem zmieszanym z hardcore'em.
Ilość niezwykle chwytliwych gitarowych riffów w połączeniu ze świetnym brzmieniem perkusji przyprawiła mnie o dreszcze. Utwory wpływające na nastrój, które dają naprawdę dobrą zabawę, mając na uwadze, że zespół skupił się na tak ważnej sprawie, jak choroba psychiczna, po prostu poprawiły wszystko, nadały EP-ce głębsze znaczenie.
Co do nastroju i uczuć… no cóż, poza ogromnym uznaniem dla ruchu, który ma otwierać ludziom oczy na psychiczne zmagania, nic więcej nie czułam. Oczywiście podobała mi się muzyka, ale nie doświadczyłam żadnych uczuć, których doświadczyłam z innymi zespołami. Oczywiście EP daje ci dowód na to, jak wielki talent ma xIRON SHARPENS IRONx, przecież w końcu stworzyli tak dobrą EPkę. Ale dla mnie było to po prostu dobre przedstawienie dla jeszcze ważniejszej sprawy. Niezwykle podoba mi się przyczyna powstania EPki, riffy, ale niestety nie wydało mi się to przełomowe.
Ogólnie uważam, że „The Tradgedy of Mankind” jest dobrym przykładem na to, jak można połączyć niezwykle ważny temat z szaloną mieszanką różnych gatunków metalu i sprawić, by brzmiał dobrze.
