CAULDRON "New Gods" (2018) - Back To The Past

First, in September "Back To The Past" series. This time I prepared an album for you, which, as I can see from the comments on YouTube and on the Internet, met with quite a lot of criticism, although for me personally, it is a really decent album. Today we are talking about the Cauldron album - "New Gods" released in 2018. I cordially invite you to read my short memories from this album.
Cauldron is known for the fact that their sound is based mostly on heavy metal from the 80s and we have just such a "sound" on the "New Gods" album. But the numbers on it are slower and at a moderate pace. Compared to the earlier albums by Cauldron, for example, the album "Chained To The Nite" (2009) or "Burning Fortune" (2011), where some tracks are even suitable for Heavy/Speed metal playing, the "New Gods" album is much more different from the previous releases of this band, but what I think happened to the Canadian band on the plus side, because we got to know them from the new side of experimenting with music and sound. In my opinion, the most praise on this album is guitarist Ian Chains, because he created a very interesting sound on this release. The riffs are heavy, even heavy like the atmosphere on the first Black Sabbath albums, and usually played in a fairly low tuning. At the same time, there are more melodic moments, not only the heavy ones. There are songs that with the atmosphere of sound and vocals remind me of a composition from such bands as Dokken or Ratt (which I like these bands very much). compared to previous Cauldron albums. The choruses are very catchy, melodic and we have excellent backing vocals on this album. In my opinion, the strongest moments of this material are the 3 compositions, and they are: "Never Be Found", "Together as None", and "Last Request" It was in these three songs that I felt the magic sound straight from the 80s, great guitar riffs, solos and the whole atmosphere of these compositions. Especially "Together As None" has the atmosphere of sounds like the bands Ratt and Dokken. The rest of the compositions on the album are not very bad, but in my opinion, they are a bit different, worst than those 3 tracks.
Summing up the album Cauldron - "New Gods" probably met with such criticism, because die-hard fans of this band probably expected something similar to their previous album - "In Ruin" (2016) However, for fans of this band and people who like it when the band begins to experiment with the sound a little and surprise their followers with something new, this is an excellent position. I'm curious when some of my favorite bands surprise me and try to surprise me with some new sound. Of course, there are cases where it doesn't always turn out to be good, but with this album, it turned out well for me, it is quite a solid record. I also have good memories with this album, because I bought this album after the first Cauldron concert in Poland in Łódź, so sentiment and pleasant memories come to me.

Pierwsze wrześniowe Back To The Past! Tym razem przygotowałem dla was album, który jak widzę po komentarzach na youtubie, oraz w sieci spotkał się z dość dużą krytyką, chociaż dla mnie osobiście jest to naprawdę przyzwoity album. Mowa jest dzisiaj o krążku zespołu Cauldron – "New Gods" wydanym w 2018 roku. Serdecznie zapraszam do lektury moich krótkich wspomnień z tej właśnie płyty.
Zespół Cauldron znany jest z tego, że swoje brzmienie opiera najbardziej na heavy metalu z lat 80 i tak samo mamy właśnie taki "sound" na albumie "New Gods" Z tym, że numery na nim są zdecydowanie wolniejsze i w średnio-umiarkowanym tempie. W stosunku do wcześniejszych albumów Kociołka na przykład albumu "Chained to the nite" (2009) czy "Burning Fortune" (2011) gdzie niektóre kawałki podchodzą już nawet pod Heavy/Speed metalowe granie, to płyta "New Gods" znacznie bardziej różni się od poprzednich wydawnictw tego zespołu, ale co według mnie wyszło kanadyjskiemu zespołowi na plus, ponieważ poznaliśmy ich od nowej strony eksperymentowania z muzyką oraz z brzmieniem. Na największą pochwałę na tym krążku według mnie zasługuję gitarzysta Ian Chains, ponieważ stworzył na tym wydawnictwie bardzo ciekawe brzmienie. Riffy są ciężkie, wręcz ociężałe niczym klimat jak na pierwszych płytach zespołu Black Sabbath i przeważnie zagrane w dość niskim stroju. Jednocześnie i tak znajdują się momenty bardziej melodyczne, nie tylko te ciężkie. Są utwory, które klimatem brzmienia gitar oraz wokali przypominają mi kompozycję od takich zespołów Jak Dokken Lub Ratt (które to zespoły sam zresztą bardzo lubię) Wokalista na tym albumie czyli Jason Decay, również prezentuję wysokim poziom swojego głosu, i według mnie nawet poprawił się wokalnie w stosunku do wcześniejszych albumów Cauldron. Refreny są bardzo chwytliwe, melodyczne oraz mamy na tej płycie znakomite chórki. Najmocniejszymi momentami według mnie tego materiału są trzy kompozycję, a są nimi: "Never Be Found", "Together as None" i "Last Request" To właśnie w tych trzech utworach poczułem magiczne brzmienie rodem z lat 80, świetne gitarowe riffy, solówki jak i całokształt klimatu tych kompozycji. Zwłaszcza utwór "Together As None" ma klimaty brzmienia jak zespoły Ratt oraz Dokken. Pozostałe kompozycje na płycie nie są jakoś bardzo złe, ale moim zdaniem jednak trochę odstają poziomem od tych trzech numerów.
Podsumowując album Cauldron – "New Gods" (2018) spotkał się z taką krytyką, bo zagorzali fani tego zespołu pewnie spodziewali się czegoś podobnego jak na poprzednim albumie Kociołka czyli krążku "In Ruin" (2016) Jednak dla fanów tego zespołu i osób którzy lubią gdy zespół zaczyna trochę eksperymentować z brzmieniem i zaskakuję swoich zwolenników czymś nowym jest to doskonała pozycja. Ja też sam lubię i jestem ciekaw gdy jakiś mój ulubiony zespół stara się zaskoczyć mnie jakimś nowym innym brzmieniem. Oczywiście są przypadki gdzie nie zawsze wychodzi to na dobre, ale w przypadku tego albumu wyszło według mnie na dość dobrze i przede wszystkim ciekawie, jest to dość solidna płyta. Mam też dobre wspomnienia z tym krążkiem, ponieważ kupiłem ten album po pierwszym koncercie właśnie zespołu Cauldron w Polsce, w Łodzi, a więc sentyment i przyjemne wspomnienia pozostają mi wraz z tym wydawnictwem!
