A five-year-old Norwegian band called MAGICK TOUCH has recently put out a kickass heavy metal/rock n' roll album 'Heads Have Got To Rock n' Roll'. I got interested in it when I saw the cover art - guillotine with blood dripping off of it - this already told me that this will be a decent release. With ten tracks and three talented guys, this album had to turn out well - and it did. Put it on the speakers. listen to it while reading my review!
Starting off with guitars - HK did a tremendous job with very catchy, perfectly balanced, at some points country-like riffs. You could hear the diverse musical influences, and also, the steady, delicate introduction of the instrument which wasn't too upfront, it was rather slow, balanced, and not so 'into your face'. The riffs were very well played, sophisticated and sharp. They melted perfectly with bass, drums, and vocals. The drums (by Christer) were greatly performed, they weren't too loud, or too fast. Their wonderfully balanced usage of cymbals that completed the vocals, sounded as if they were thought through and well planned. Bass completed everything well, it added that deeper feeling to each track. Now analyzing the vocals, well... I have to say that besides the typically mixed heavy vocals with the rock n' roll ones, I could hear a lot of bluesy sounds, which also were hearable in guitar riffs. I think that this was probably the best thing on this records - it lifted the release to a higher level, showed us that the inspirations for a record can be from a totally different music genre, than the one performed and it also added that extra warm sound, which is present on blues records.
Summing up, 'Heads Have Got To Rock n' Roll' is a must-listen album for all heavy metal fans. It's an old-school record that has all the heavy metal characteristics it should have and in addition, it has bluesy sounds with a pinch of country rock. This album is a top-level one and quite a positively surprising record. 'Heads Have Got To Rock n' Roll' has won my heart and sparked the heavy metal feeling back in me. A band like MAGICK TOUCH should have lots of supporters and listeners because their talent is immense! Pięcioletni norweski zespół MAGICK TOUCH wydał niedawno niesamowity heavy metalowy / rock n 'rollowy album "Heads Have Got To Rock n' Roll". Zainteresowałam się nim, gdy zobaczyłam wymowną okładkę - gilotynę z kapiącą z niej krwią - powiedziało mi już to, że będzie to przyzwoite wydawnictwo. Z dziesięcioma utworami i trzema utalentowanymi facetami ten album musiał się udać - i tak się stało. Włącz go na najwyższym poziomie głośności i posłuchaj, czytając moją recenzję!
Zaczynając od gitar - HK wykonał świetną robotę z bardzo chwytliwymi, doskonale wyważonymi, miejscami przypominającymi country riffami. Słychać było różnorodne wpływy muzyczne, a także równomierne, delikatne wprowadzenie instrumentu, które nie było zbyt oficjalne, było raczej powolne, wyważone i nie tak „prosto w twarz”. Riffy były bardzo dobrze zagrane, wyrafinowane i ostre. Idealnie stopiły się z basem, perkusją i wokalem. Bębny (Christera) były świetnie zagrane, nie były zbyt głośne ani zbyt szybkie. Ich cudownie wyważone użycie talerzy perkusyjnych uzupełniających wokale brzmiało tak, jakby były gruntownie przemyślane i dobrze zaplanowane. Bas dopełnił wszystko dobrze, dodał głębsze uczucie do każdego utworu. Analizując teraz wokale, muszę powiedzieć, że oprócz typowo heavy metalowych wokali zmiksowanych z tymi rock'n'rollowymi, słyszałam wiele bluesowych dźwięków, które również można było usłyszeć w gitarowych riffach. Myślę, że to była chyba najlepsza rzecz na tej płycie - podniosła wydawnictwo na wyższy poziom, pokazała nam, że inspiracje do nagrania mogą pochodzić z zupełnie innego gatunku muzycznego niż ten, który wykonano i dodało to dodatkowo ciepła, które jest obecne na płytach bluesowych.
Podsumowując, „Heads Have Got To Rock n 'Roll” to album, który wszyscy fani heavy metalu powinni posłuchać. To oldschoolowa płyta, która ma wszystkie heavy metalowe cechy, jakie album powinien mieć, a do tego ma bluesowe dźwięki z domieszką country rocka. Ta płyta jest z najwyższej półki i dość pozytywnie zaskakująca. „Heads Have Got To Rock n 'Roll” podbił moje serce i wzniecił we mnie heavy metal. Zespół taki jak MAGICK TOUCH powinien mieć wielu zwolenników i słuchaczy, ponieważ ich talent jest ogromny!
