What a mix you'll read about today! Black/Death/Doom Metal band - CULT BURIAL (UK) has recently released a full-length self-titled album. This London-based band graced us with a brand new release on the 6th of November 2020, providing us 44 minutes of very decent material, additionally giving us great extreme metal emotions and dark metal imagery.
In the beginning, I was startled by the number of genres that were fused together, but I already reviewed similarly mixed albums, so I was extremely thrilled to hear what did CULT BURIAL prepare for us.
The mix of the three genres is heavily noticeable here. To my ear, it sounds pleasant, not as if it was forced together, it fits well together, surely, this happened as an organic process. The band gave us a well-blended whole, which also proved to us that fusing multiple genres together can go with no mistakes at all.
In my opinion, the album stands out in the catalog of modern extreme metal, because it's not something you could get from any band - the sound of all the instruments is quite unique, dark, and mystical - it transfers you to a certain world of medieval warriors that fight with inhabitants of other planets - at least that's the imagery I get while listening to 'Cult Burial'.
As I said earlier, the instruments were performed with the highest level of professionalism, you certainly could hear the deeply thought through riffs, which collaborated with brutal and sophisticated drums, followed by outstanding, deep, and very dark vocals.
The feelings which you can get from the album aren't necessarily clear to me, but I mostly noticed the creative energy which was put into the recording process. The rest of the emotions and imagery were rather focused between the brutality, which was flowing from the vocals, and the death metal angst-driven kind of performance.
I have to say that I wouldn't have thought that I'd like the album that much. Each instrument was balanced and completed by the other one greatly. Everything went well with each other and created that musically flawless whole which is indisputable. On the other side, the emotions + imagery side is rather poor - I didn't get as many feelings as I would like to, but this wasn't a big downside to the album. The lack of emotions rather helped me in discovering and focusing on many hearable extreme metal characteristics, and the ones that were hidden in the rich musical background.
All in all, the album is a decent choice for those metalheads that appreciate discovering new and unknown metal genre mixes, and not giving up on them right away, just because there are mixed many kinds of metal.
I advise you to try 'Cult Burial' out, show the band some appreciation, and support them by sharing their music.

Co za mieszanka, o której dziś przeczytacie! Zespół Black / Death / Doom Metalowy - CULT BURIAL (Wielka Brytania) wydał niedawno pełnometrażowy album self-titled. Ten londyński zespół zaszczycił nas zupełnie nowym wydawnictwem 6 listopada 2020 roku, zapewniając 44 minuty bardzo przyzwoitego materiału, dodatkowo dostarczając nam ogromnych emocji ekstremalnego metalu i dark metalowych wizji muzycznych.
Na początku byłam zaskoczona liczbą gatunków, które zostały połączone, ale recenzowałam już podobnie zmiksowane albumy, więc byłam niezwykle podekscytowana, myśląć o tym, co przygotował dla nas CULT BURIAL.
Mieszanka trzech gatunków jest tutaj mocno zauważalna. Dla mojego ucha brzmi przyjemnie, nie tak, jakby była sklejona na siłę, wszystko dobrze do siebie pasuje i z pewnością wyszło to jako proces organiczny. Zespół dał nam zgrany całościowo album, co również udowodniło nam, że łączenie wielu podgatunków może przebiec bez żadnych błędów.
Moim zdaniem płyta wyróżnia się w katalogu współczesnego ekstremalnego metalu, bo nie jest to coś, co można dostać od każdego zespołu - brzmienie wszystkich instrumentów jest dość wyjątkowe, mroczne i mistyczne - przenosi w pewien pokręcony świat gdzie średniowieczni wojownicy walczą z mieszkańcami innych planet - przynajmniej takie wizje ja dostaję słuchając „Cult Burial”.
Jak powiedziałam wcześniej, instrumenty zostały wykonane z najwyższym profesjonalizmem, z pewnością można było usłyszeć głęboko przemyślane riffy, które współpracowały z brutalną i wyrafinowaną perkusją, a razem znimi następował wybitny, głęboki i bardzo mroczny wokal.
Odczucia, jakie można uzyskać z albumu, niekoniecznie są dla mnie jasne, jednak przede wszystkim odczułam twórczą energię, która została włożona w proces nagrywania. Reszta emocji i odczuć skupiała się raczej między brutalnością płynącą z wokali a death metalowym występem napędzanym agresją i mrokiem.
Muszę powiedzieć, że nie pomyślałabym, że album mi się tak bardzo spodoba. Każdy instrument był wyważony i świetnie uzupełniony przez kolejny. Wszystko szło dobrze ze sobą i stworzyło muzycznie nieskazitelną całość, która jest niepodważalna. Z drugiej strony, emocje + obrazy są raczej słabe - nie odczuwałam tylu emocji, ile bym chciała, jednak nie był to duży minus albumu. Brak emocji pomógł mi raczej w odkrywaniu i skupianiu się na wielu słyszalnych cechach ekstremalnego metalu i tych, które były ukryte w bogatym muzycznym tle.
Podsumowując, album jest przyzwoitym wyborem dla tych metalowców, którzy cenią sobie odkrywanie nowych i nieznanych miksów metalowych i nie rezygnowanie z nich od razu, tylko dlatego, że jest w nim wiele podgatunków.
Radzę Wam przesłuchać „Cult Burial”, pokazać zespołowi uznanie i wspierać go poprzez publikowanie linków z ich muzyką.
